Using Gabapentin and Lyrica Together Normally, medicines that are very similar, such as gabapentin and pregabalin, aren't used together because they act similarly. However, some studies have shown that prescribing lower doses of gabapentin and pregabalin together may work better than prescribing higher doses of just one. pregabalin is more potent and lengthy gabapentin. I've gone pretty high up with Gabapentin, something like 4000 mg. I agree though, around 2000 mg is the sweet spot. These days I usually take 1500 mg give or take. Anyway, thanks for your input! I wondered if I was the only one who saw Gabapentin as superior to Lyrica (recreationally, anyway.) I'll definitely look into Baclofen :) Gabapentin and Lyrica (pregabalin) generally aren't used together due to their numerous similarities. Taking both gabapentin and Lyrica together would generally be considered a 'therapeutic duplication', but there is some evidence of the potential positive benefits of this. Both Lyrica and gabapentin are used as anti-epileptic medications and to treat nerve pain. But there are several differences between them. The main differences between Lyrica and gabapentin are: Lyrica is a brand name for pregabalin. Gabapentin is a generic name - brands of gabapentin include Neurontin, Gralise, and Horizant. Gabapentin is helpful to some people with specific pain problems as many in the comments are suggesting. However if you are getting TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) to treat depression and/or anxiety keep in mind gabapentin can actually reduce the efficacy of the treatment. Gabapentin needs to be taken with lots of fat and sugar and needs to be dosed in spaces, while Pregabalin needs to be taken on an empty stomach and all at once I liked Pregabalin a bit more, very clearheaded and euphoric in contrast to benzos, the traits a bit stronger than Gabapentin. I've had both for nerve damage and herniated discs. Lyrica is far superior both medicinally and recreationally in my experience. It's better at killing pain and it's also a better anxiolytic than gabapentin, and doesn't require the staggering of doses. Recreationally, Lyrica is probably one of my favorite drugs in higher doses (900mg+). 1800mg of gabapentin is equal to 300mg lyrica. However lyrica is rapidly absorbed with 90% bio. Gabapentin needs lipids and fizzy drinks to boost absorption. I bounce back and forth and have breaks inbetween to avoid tolerance. Can't refill my 120 lyrica until February 14th. Just got 60 300mg gabas today though. Many states consider gabapentin a control and it will likely be all states eventually. I can count the number of people who abused their Wellbutrin on one hand and it’s 0 but gabapentin is far far far more widespread and commonly taken with lots of alcohol for a high. However, they switched me to Lyrica halfway through my gabapentin script. So I’m taking Lyrica and still have about 45 gabapentin 800’s. What’s the risk? Will it benefit in doing both together for a better high? Curious, but don’t want to have a seizure or something. I wondering which is better, Gabapentin or Lyrica? I’m on Gabapentin for nerve pain. What are your thoughts? Is one better than the other? I'm tapering down on gabapentin (from 2700 daily to 600) and starting Lyrica. After almost two weeks it seems positive for overall pain management, but my diabetic neuropathy related nerve pain is noticeably worse. Lyrica is identifal to Gabapentin, but Lyrica is 6x stronger, lasts longer and IMO is much better for anxiety. If you do switch to Pregabalin you will have less side effects since you already have tolerance to Gabapentin unless you take a break before switching.
