Gabapentin is a very safe medication with very wide dosing range, she will be fine. 100 mg is a standard dose. It works very well but there are times where the cat can manage to fight of the sedation, hence why your vet probably wants you to dose at night and again before the vet visit. I have a cat that used to pee/poop/stress while traveling. I found that using a larger carrier where I could fit a small travel litter box for him helped a lot. I give him 50-100 gabapentin (depending on the nature of the travel) about 2 hours prior to travel so he has time to settle down into the chill zone. One of our cats is really sensitive to gabapentin, so we tend to reduce the recommended dose; if the cat doesn’t get the whole dose you’ll probably be fine. Also, gabapentin can be compounded into cat-friendlier flavors. I think I'll sprinkle 50mg Gabapentin on the food and if she only eats some of it, I can always resort to giving her a 50mg tablet. My vet says a cat Eloise's size can have 100mg Gagapentin safely.
