Anyone prescribed gabapentin to be taken as a prn only? My doctor wants me to try it for anxiety but only as needed. Yea it’s the best non controlled anxiety med for PRN..Your other is hydroxyine which is pure trash..GABA works but you need to take it an hour b4 a situation that gives you anxiety. What is prn? Generally, it is recommended to take gabapentin for at least four to six weeks or at the highest tolerated dose for at least two weeks. However, nerve pain can be a long-term issue, lasting for three or more months. If gabapentin provides relief, your healthcare provider may have you continue taking it daily. If you're new to gabapentin you can take it as needed but the dose may need to be a bit higher than 100 mg for good results. If you take it regular it can build a tolerance depending on how much. Or taking it regular at around 600mg doses for a newbie to it as needed can work as well. However, the literature is limited and suggests that gabapentin is predominantly abused by patients with other substance use disorders, notably opioid use disorder [17–21]. It does not need to build up in your system to work. Can gabapentin and lyrica just be used PRN for break through pain and nerve pain? I have pretty bad nerve damage in the right side of my body, back injury with buldging discs leaving me with sever chronic pain from a work place accident and am on methadone tablets for pain management.
