Yes, unfortunately the severe side effects of Neurontin (Gabapentin) is: numbness of an arm or leg; one-sided weakness; swelling of the hands, legs, or feet. My mother-in-law was unable to wear regular shoes because of swelling of her feet and ankles, so we found her socks and soft slippers that fit her feet comfortably. I developed tingling in both my legs and right arm after a traumatic event. I have had it for over three years now and wonder if anyone else has had it this long. Although I do have uneducated guesses as to the cause such" + (show) I also have idiopathic small fiber peripheral neuropathy which I've had over 20+ years. The only plus if you can call it that is I only have numbness with my PN and no pain. Unfortunately other complications followed, including leg weakness, bladder & bowel issues. Also ED with lack of sensation & numbness to varying degrees in the urethra and bowel. My neuropathy is stage 4 and considered permanent. I took 3,600 mg of Neurontin and also Lyrica neither of which helped the neuropathy or my seizures. I do sometimes bit more numbness. I think l can tolerate the pain just as long as l can get off of it because it really isn't helping. So it's really defeating it's purpose. So that's why he gave me tramadol also.And the tramadol can be addictive. That's the only pain med l can take so l don't want to take that and l can't take any NASID.
