The Clonidine adds an amazing reduction in norepinephrine and lowers blood pressure/calm heart rate, and is a mild sedativebenzo anxiolytic action and muscle relaxation from K-Pins, gabapentin an added anticonvulsant/anxiolytic effect. They both have helped me a lot, but should be taken with caution and sparingly. If you aren't youngish and fittish, be judicious with the clonidine and taper off quickly. The rebound hypertension spells disaster for some. The gabapentin was more helpful to me in previous quits. Gabapentin helps me a ton. 300mg every 30m until I reach 1200mg and I'm usually good for the next 8-12hrs. I use Gaba until I'm ready to take Subs. Careful taking it everyday though. Withdrawals from Gabapentin sucks. Applies to: clonidine and gabapentin Using cloNIDine together with gabapentin may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. Some people, especially the elderly, may also experience impairment in thinking, judgment, and motor coordination. I took 1800mg of gabapentin though-out the day in 300-600mg doses, clonidine twice per day and the 10mg Valium at night. I’m shocked at how much these masked the withdrawals. I’d say easily 75% and kept my mood positive and my body comfortable. I'd take Tizanidine over any Gabapentin and related like drugs. I don't find myself that tired off the medication but yet again I've only been on 2 2mg tablets for 3 weeks now. Anything that I should look out for would be appreciated, I'm just also looking to see if anyone has any good/bad experiences. i took gabapentin for a little over a month, my rheumatologist gave it to me but didn’t notify me of the potential side effects, other than drowsiness. this is a pretty rare side effect, but my whole body (mostly in my legs) was extremely swollen for weeks and i blamed it on everything other than the medication, because i didn’t know it was 66lb apbt mix. He takes anywhere between 300-900mg for anxiety. He gets 300mg every morning with his Prozac (40mg) and clonidine (0.3mg). If there will be a more stressful event happening, or if we’re doing more challenging counterconditioning/training, then typically it’s either 600mg or 900mg gaba. The new vet suggested switching the Gabapentin for Clonidine and while I agree that the Clonidine seems to fit with her symptoms better (she has noise phobia and a windy day will have her hiding under the bed), I've noticed that she is extra sleepy and her third eyelid is peeking out. From a reddit post: Agmatine and clonidine are both alpha2 and imidazoline agonists. Agmatine has more affinity for the receptors, thus is can displace clonidine. Hoping to see more progress with the higher dosage, and also working with a vet behaviorist to layer in some fast acting drugs during training as well (trying trazadone and then later we’ll try clonidine) For what it’s worth, gabapentin does literally nothing for her.. even with the max dosage you can’t tell she’s taken a thing. They definitely make me feel awesome and I am a severe opiate addict in remission with bad anxiety and depression. Just give it a try without the bean bro you'll still feel something; Clonidine kicks in fast like a xan, Hydrox lasts a bit and keeps me calm in the background, and Gabapentin makes me happy and smiley . Just give it a shot. Clonidine (Catapres) can be taken with Gabapentin (Neurontin) without issue. There are no specific contraindications between these two drugs. Both are capable of producing sedation/drowsiness, so you definitely should not drive or operate machinery until you're positive you know what these drugs are about. To answer your first question, I did find that there are (moderately unsafe) interactions between Clonidine and Gabapentin (so it wouldn't be wise to take a full dose of each one together). To be clear not asking for medical advice but just others personal experience, I’ve been taking clonidine for 5 days now, half a tablet at night for adhd insomnia, I don’t feel anything my insomnia is still bad I don’t feel like it’s quieting my thoughts and I maybe experiencing some drowsiness for an hour that passes by the time I’m actually trying to sleep, I really thought I would The Clonidine and gabapentin work well for me, gabapentin 300mg doesn’t make me too sleepy but I do feel a little drowsy at times. There’s a few other medications I take at night, hydroxyzine and amitriptyline. I've just been prescribed .1mg clonidine and 300 mg gabapentin. I took 3 300mg gabas yesterday and so far 2 gabas today 600mg. I'm wondering will I be safe if I take .1mg of clonidine tonight? I'm new to both drugs sorry for n00b question About 2 hours ago, I accidentally gave my 32lb aussie a second dose of her morning meds (she has anxiety). She normally receives 30mg of fluoxetine, 600mg of gabapentin and .3mg of clonidine. My husband gave her the first dose at about 6:30 am and then I gave her the second dose like 20-30 minutes later. I’m wondering if anyone is on a gabapentin + clonidine combo, and if so, does that help? My resting heart rate is 130 even with the klonopin because i’m so damn anxious all the time. GAD & CPTSD alongside BP1. Using cloNIDine together with gabapentin may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating.
