I take gabapentin. I have thin, fine hair to begin with, and I lose a little more hair each time I wash it. I don't know if it's the gabapentin or if it's all the hair dye over the years. Including my hair falling out. I was told it was such a rare side effect they really didn't have much information on it. I expected when I finally got off of it my hair would stop falling out but if anything it's gotten worse. Has anyone experienced anything like this with gabapentine? I'm so mad I wasn't informed this was a possible side effect. I was on 2400mg a day and I lost handfuls of hair when I showered. It got to the point that I was afraid to even touch my hair. Gabapentin didn’t even help me and I had horrible side effects. It’s probably been 8 months since I stopped taking it and my hair is finally growing back, but it’ll take a long time to have thick hair again. Hair loss from gabapentin use is not common but certainly can occur. Hair loss typically occurs within 2 months after starting the medication although may occur as early as 1 week in some patients. Hair regrowth is expected in most patients once the culprit drug is stopped. Even when I supplemented with folic acid and folate while on gabapentin it stopped the hair loss but my hair wouldn't grow either. Now that I'm off the gabapentin for good my hair is growing back in SO thick and fast! Did you have to get off of Gabapentin before you could reverse your hair loss? I have had notoriously high iron levels in my blood in my past and a great head of hair all my life. I'm taking a product called Shen-min and Shaklee Gold vitamins. I was given gabapentin for anxiety too. It didn't help at all and gave me numerous side effects, including hair loss and feeling incredibly dumb to where it was hard to rememebr the names of things and form sentences. Which only made the anxiety increase! Can gabapentin cause hair loss even at low doses below 300 mg/day ? and if so is it temporary and reversible ? Holy crap, it can cause hair loss. But I can't find out if the hair loss is reversible. The doctor told me it was an 'exotic' side effect (whatever the heck that means), switched me to Lyrica, and told me to use Rogaine. I have weaned off the gabapentin, but now I am scared to start the Lyrica after reading that Lyrica can cause the same issues. Going into 17-18 ranging into a dose of 1k to 3k every few days. Yes hair loss did happen when I entered a higher dosages. Now. Dealing with lyrica after switching and again doing higher dosage. My hair is thinning/gone in the front and this lose was within the start of lyrica and greater into the higher doses.
