We sometimes add it if gabapentin isn’t quite doing the job, usually in the context of having to get bloodwork on a known difficult cat rather than just for an exam. It seems to slow them down rather than calm them down, but that’s in my experience from a limited number of cats. My dog was prescribed Gabapentin (every 8 hours) along with Trazodone (addressed in another comment on this reddit) for IVDD recovery. Not at first, but over the course of several days of taking Gabapentin, my dog began developing tremors. A doctor prescribed me trazodone for sleep and said it was ok to take on top of the gabapentin i was already prescribed. I am taking 50 mg and it knocks me out but I feel mad dizzy and shitty. He’s so much calmer and actually lets the vet perform the treatments he needs, which significantly soothes my anxiety and all the vet tech’s and vet’s too. Yes, Trazodone and Gabapentin can be taken together for anxiety. I haven't tried Gabapentin, but have had success with Trazodone for maintenance insomnia. I had to increase the dose from 25 to 50 mg to stop waking up in the middle of the night. It's made my mornings groggy, but I'd prefer that over little sleep. Currently taking Gabapentin (doses fluctuate depending on severity of pain - 900 to 1,200 mg per day). I've been reading about Trazodone also being used for neuropathy. I'm hoping to get some input from anyone using Trazadone and also if they mix it with Gabapentin. Thanks in advance!
