Pharmaceutical companies are getting in the game with products such as Flector patches, Voltaren gel, Pennsaid topical solution, Lidoderm patches, and Qutenza patches. Numerous over-the-counter products also exist. This formulation is a compounded topical gel containing Baclofen 2%, Diclofenac Sodium 3%, Gabapentin 6%, and Lidocaine HCl 5%. It is a semisolid formulation dispensed through a pump mechanism, which allows for easy and precise application on the skin. Gabapentin is in the drug class gamma-aminobutyric acid analogs. A total of 428 drugs are known to interact with Voltaren. Voltaren is in the drug class Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Applies to: gabapentin. Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of gabapentin such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Ask your doctor before using diclofenac together with ethanol (alcohol). Do not drink alcohol while taking diclofenac. Alcohol can increase your risk of stomach bleeding caused by diclofenac. Call your doctor at once if you have symptoms of bleeding in your stomach or intestines. The study uses data from the FDA. It is based on gabapentin and diclofenac sodium (the active ingredients of Gabapentin and Diclofenac sodium, respectively), and Gabapentin and Diclofenac sodium (the brand names). Other drugs that have the same active ingredients (e.g. generic drugs) are not considered. No interactions were found between gabapentin and Voltaren Arthritis Pain Gel. Presumably, minimal systemic absorption would suggest that topical NSAIDs would be safe to use in patients with cirrhosis, but further research is needed.
