Borobia-Perez reported about an 82-year Gabapentin was started in a dose of 300 mg bid, and sodium valproate was stopped. Within 48 hours, the patient developed new symptoms of hostility, verbal aggression, and command auditory hallucinations and destroyed property by breaking the commode in his room. High doses of gabapentin can cause autolytic ideation and auditory hallucinations, but stopping treatment resolves symptoms without recurrence. Gabapentin effectively improved both visual hallucinations and pain in a Parkinson's disease patient without adverse effects.
