Gabapentin is indicated for the treatment of peripheral neuropathic pain such as painful diabetic neuropathy and post-herpetic neuralgia in adults. Posology. For all indications a titration scheme for the initiation of therapy is described in Table 1, which is recommended for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and above. Gabapentin Brown & Burk is an anti-convulsant medication that inhibits the release of excitatory neurotransmitters, allowing for its use against pathologic neurotransmission such as that seen in neuropathic pain and seizure disorders. It has a wide therapeutic index, with doses in excess of 8000 mg/kg failing to cause a fatal reaction in rats. The 400 mg capsules are orange hard capsules containing a white crystalline powder. The capsule length is 21.20 mm. Supplied in blister packs of 10, 20, 30, 50, 60, 84, 90, 98, 100, 200, 500, 1000 capsules.
