The 100 mg capsule shell contains gelatin and titanium dioxide. The 300 mg capsule shell contains gelatin, titanium dioxide and yellow iron oxide. The effective dose of gabapentin is 900 to 1800 mg/day and given in divided doses (three times a day) using 300 or 400 mg capsules. The starting dose is 300 mg three times a day. If necessary, the dose may be increased using 300 or 400 mg capsules three times a day up to 1800 mg/day. The inactive ingredients for the capsules are corn starch, gelatin, magnesium stearate, mannitol, sodium lauryl sulphate, talc, titanium dioxide, black edible ink which contains iron oxide black, potassium hydroxide in which C S is the concentration, in mg per mL, of USP Gabapentin Related Compound A RS in the Standard solution; C T is the concentration, in mg per mL, of gabapentin in the Test solution, based on the label claim; and r U and r S are the individual peak responses for gabapentin related compound A obtained from the Test solution and Standard Gabapentin is commonly used to treat and prevent seizures in people with epilepsy or to treat nerve pain (postherpetic neuralgia) that can occur after a viral infection called shingles. What are gabapentin capsules? • Pain from damaged nerves (postherpetic pain) that follows healing of shingles (a painful rash that comes after a herpes zoster infection) in adults. • Partial seizures when taken together with other medicines in adults and children 3 years of age and older with seizures.
