Started taking daily Zyrtec and that combined with gabapentin cream kept things pretty well controlled. Got pregnant and couldn’t use the gabapentin and didn’t want to take daily meds. Found Benadryl cream (pregnancy safe) and holy shit. I have only been using it like 5 days and I’m essentially pain free. If it did how long did it last ? Did you have to apply more A place for individuals (however they identify) with vulvodynia to share stories, give and receive advice and support. This subreddit is dedicated to providing information and being a supportive space, as well as raising awareness. I just had my first appointment with a vulvar specialist and she prescribed me gabapentin cream. I’ve read some reviews of the oral medication and it really sounds like a mixed bag. I’m just so desperate for this to work that I’m gonna pretend like it will work no matter what haha. Does anyone have experience with the cream version?? Thanks! Alongside psychosocial interventions and physiotherapy, pharmacological treatment such as oral gabapentin are used in the treatment of vulvodynia. Topical formulations of gabapentin have shown promise in animal models and case reports investigating its use in other pain conditions. Neither Gabapentin pills or the coumpound cream ever provided any pain relief for me either. I have been dealing with this for 10 months and have now tried 15 topical & 5 oral meds. Sigh Gabapentin has an average rating of 6.6 out of 10 from a total of 10 reviews for the off-label treatment of Vulvodynia. 40% of reviewers reported a positive experience, while 20% reported a negative experience. I started using gabapentin 4% cream once a day three days ago. So far my sensitivity has actually INCREASED. Anyone have experience like this? I'm I've been using Gabapentin for a few months and it is working really well for me! It definitely doesn't "heal" anything, because my pain comes back if I don't bother taking it. I was diagnosed with vulvodynia 5 years ago. I was in a lot of pain. I first tried gabapentine cream twice a day. It did help a bit, but it wasn't enough to get my pain on a level where it was bearable. Then I switched to Deanxit, an antidepressant. I took 2 pills of Deanxit a day for almost 4 years. Hey all, I just started using a gabapentin+baclofen cream about a week ago and I have a couple questions for anyone that's used it or something Advertisement Coins I was prescribed a compound cream of 10% Gabapentin and 5% Amitriptyline for vulvodynia as my doctor thinks the irritation and itching is nerve related. Does this seem like a safe compound to use? The percentages seem much higher than others I have seen people use. Yep it's just gabapentin in cream form. I know that doctors have seen success with it in patients with certain types of vestibulodynia. I'm not as familiar with treatments for clitorodynia, but I definitely think it's worth asking about. You'd probably need to get it from a compounding pharmacy. You'd probably apply to your clitoris once daily. Although gabapentin is recommended and commonly prescribed for vulvodynia, its value in such cases is usually associated with complaints that have neuropathic components, such as dynamic allodynia. I was on Lyrica for four years. Out of the blue, I had constant suicidal thoughts, so they tapered me off. Then, they put me on gabapentin and those thoughts started creeping in, again, a year later. This was years before vulvodynia. Pain management gave me a free dose pack of gabapentin, when their blocks didn't work for vulvodynia. Lots of people have success using gabapentin for nerve pain, although some cannot tolerate the side effects of drowsiness or dizziness, but everyone is so different. Another possibility is to have it compounded into a cream and then use it topically. You can always ask your doctor when is a reasonable time frame to expect a difference. I had a slightly different cream, gabapentin+lidocaine, and I was told to expect a difference by the 6th weeks, using twice a day. You can also ask your doctor about estrogen cream if you are feeling dry down there, but it depends on what causing the dryness. use the following search parameters to narrow your results: subreddit:subreddit find submissions in "subreddit" author:username find submissions by "username" site:example.com It's a pretty common issue. I find that using a small amount of the cream goes a long way and prevents stinging. It stings the most the first application, but may get better over time. If not then it’s probably the base cream that’s bothering you like others have said in this thread.
