No human experience, but one of our cats has been on gabapentin for a few months now. We are using a very minimal dose: they recommended 3 times a day but so far we are only giving it once. The effect seems quite positive: she has regained a lot of her appetite since she started taking it. Gabapentin is helpful to some people with specific pain problems as many in the comments are suggesting. However if you are getting TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) to treat depression and/or anxiety keep in mind gabapentin can actually reduce the efficacy of the treatment. The next time I had a noteworthy experience from this drug was long after the stolen pills had run out. I attained around 200 pills (300 mg) and decided I wanted to push this drug to it's limits. I have never had another experience on any substance quite like this one. What are your experiences with gabapentin? It's been over a year now and initially I did not have good experiences with it, but I feel like I'm seeing more positive comments lately. Toes and feet are numb yet extremely sensitive to touch and pain. That’s the combo I’m on. I take 300 mg every four hours of gabapentin and 200 mg of Wellbutrin a day. I have energy and motivation and improved focus. The gabapentin takes the edge off life giving you a nice feeling. Combo is great. I would never be doing Wellbutrin on it’s own without gabapentin. I would be too anxious. I’m prescribed 600mg a day but I don’t take them everyday so I have 2 whole prescriptions of the 300mg capsules plus a few extra. This is for long term management of anxiety but reading about everyone’s experience online is really stressing me out. I have had severe generalized anxiety for my entire life and have not responded well to any SSRI SNRI or Buspar. I want to preface this with I have had a terrible reaction to a DIFFERENT but similar medication to gabapentin, so I understand the nervousness you might have. I had hallucinations, paranoia, and thought I would randomly die. It was a very bad month for me. I did NOT experience this from gabapentin. Honestly, it just really didn't do much for me. As I mentioned, I’ve been on gabapentin for a number of years and have not noted any specific side effects from it. I don’t know what I’d experience if I titrated down and off of it, but currently there are no indications to do so. Let me offer my advice as I have been using gabapentin on and off for over a decade. My method almost always leaves me with a high resembling a cross between a drug that releases dopamine, a mild euphoriant such as mdea, and a tiny dose of phenibut or moderate dose of baclofen. I love Gabapentin! Definitely one of my favorite drugs and I have quite a bit of experience with it. I remember seeing it described as "really similar to a benzo, but the main difference is that Gabapentin has an inherent mood lift" or something one time and I think that's really accurate. At first I was prescribed Gabapentin 900mg/day along with 50mg/night Amitriptyline and 150mg Tramadol per day. I felt more like a zombie than a normal person. Life was pretty much a haze and I did not seem to be improving whatsoever. I was on Gabapentin for 4 years for a nerve that was damaged in my knee during an arthroscopic surgery. I had tried all other options and medications and Gabapentin was the only one that worked at the time. When I first went on it, I had frequent urination, but that went away. I've taken gabapentin a few times. Started with 600mg and worked my way up. I just took 3000mg today and am enjoying it so far :) What is your Welcome to /r/gabapentin, here we primarily discuss issues pertaining to the medical, prescribed use of Gabapentin, Lyrica and Phenibut, as well as other Gaba related drugs.
