i have been in gabapentin for a little over one month. the VA started me at 300 tid, then 400, then 600, and now i am at 800 tid. i have definitely gained some fat but i so stay very active and eat consciously. my pain and anxiety are definitely lower and my sleep has greatly improved. i was prescribed gabapentin to stay off alcohol and phenibut I'm struggling with the withdrawal symptoms from effexor, and my NP prescribed gabapentin to help with the anxiety and burning nerves pain. Not once did she say that I would have to go through all of this again when stopping gabapentin. For me (I take around 800mg per day, mostly starting at night) it feels like a slight euphoria, I can be a bit more mindful and it slows my mind and emotions down just enough for me to be more aware of them. Music sounds really good around 600-800mg. Apparently the withdrawals are horrific. Patient Forums for Gabapentin. Part of the Brain and nerves category. Symptom, treatment and advice from community members If gabapentin works for you, you may feel relief from these symptoms. Some people may also feel more anxious, irritable, depressed, angry, excited, or reckless when they first start gabapentin. In rare cases (less than 1%), you may have feelings of death or suicide. This is a great place to ask general or recreational questions, get harm reduction advice, or share your experience with withdrawal syndromes. when I had an elderly cat with painful gastric problems my vet and I decided to try gabapentin – which turned the little guy into a semiconscious shambling shadow of himself with the first (and only) dose. No human experience, but one of our cats has been on gabapentin for a few months now. Does gabapentin make you feel good? I know it’s for nerve pain but it’s also used at higher doses for anxiety treatment. And some people use it as a sleep aid. What does it feel like if you take it without nerve pain? Hey homie, I just read your response. I got 300mg (60 caps) yesterday. This morning I took 300mg, ate a piece of bacon, took 2 teaspoons of olive oil (for the fatty ingestion), took a cyclobenzaprine for my back problems, drank a bottle of tonic water, took an alive, and drank a protein drink. i took gabapentin for a little over a month, my rheumatologist gave it to me but didn’t notify me of the potential side effects, other than drowsiness. this is a pretty rare side effect, but my whole body (mostly in my legs) was extremely swollen for weeks and i blamed it on everything other than the medication, because i didn’t know it was I'd say the neurontin has been helpful for sure and I don't feel I have any side effects. I'm now taking 600mg TID. I can always go down if needed. I do think it's helped with social anxiety and I feel relaxed but also clearheaded which is quite nice. I don't feel foggy. Zoloft, for me, does the heave lifting and always will. If you just down a bunch of pills, chances are you won't be feeling much of anything, besides a very subtle high. However, if you dose correctly, you'll be feeling fucking amazing for a long duration, and be 100% functional. I’m taking gabapentin 600 twice a day for sciatica nerve pain, severe nerve pain (from shingles), hip dislocation and slipping and leg pain. I’ve been on it for 3 weeks now, some days I feel like I’m drunk, others I don’t notice and the pain is tolerable My doctor just prescribed me Gabapentin 100mg 3x per day for anxiety. She said she’s had much success with patients who can’t use benzos. And the online reviews are very positive. Gabapentin is indeed an active depressant, and IMHO is a very useful and quite wonderful substance. It creates a disinhibited state of mellowness and elevated mood that, while subtle, is very pleasant. It is a very good medicine for anxiety, and even allowed my manticore to get over his phobia involving operating motor vehicles. The TID regimen and the “foggy feeling” it can cause are the most common complaints I’ve heard in pain clinics. Very common to see gabapentin and lyrica on certain patients’ allergy lists. Could very well be patients selecting out anything that’s not an opiate though. Anyone else feel spaced out from gabapentin I was taking 400mg 3 times a day and my dr increased the dose to 900mg three times a day. I slept for like 2 weeks from it, now I'm awake but very very spaced out kind of have a drunk like feeling. Not the 1,800mg a day he was giving me. Which IMO opinion is crazy high for just starting. I feel better. I think the key to gabapentin is finding the right dose like no higher than you absolutely need. I hope you feel better. I know the feeling. I have chronic pain but I’m getting off the pain pills. I feel gabapentin is a better option, doesn’t relieve pain like an oxy but I also hate being stuck on something forever. At least with gabapentin we can get multiple refills without a doctors appointment. I had my doctor reduce me from 400 to 300 mg this week. The doctor said take as needed but wait an hour between doses. Said try breaking it up so 300mg per hour. I use kratom for pain so it sucks that kratom has to be on empty stomach and gabapentin needs fat. It has been helpful this gabapentin although I kind of feel a brain fog.
