But because of the low absorption rate of gabapentin, if you take 1800mg a day, that is NOT 6x as much as 300mg a day. The absorption rate drops with the size of the dose. I don't get withdrawl symptoms, thank goodness, but the pain and insomnia made it a hellishly miserable two weeks. i started gabapentin for fibromyalgia a week ago and i want to talk about my experiences and share some thoughts. so far gabapentin 300 2x a day has I got prescribed gabapentin for anxiety years before i got my fibromyalgia dx. i switched psychiatrists in june and gave her my med list, she immediately took me off gabapentin and asked about brain fog. i only took it as needed really or when i had a migraine as my neck tends to get painfully tight with migraines or sometimes triggers them. So I take the gabapentin sometimes and the lyrica sometimes. I feel like the Lyrica is actually better for my fibromyalgia, but it makes me way more sleepy, and I get blurry vision. I tolerate the gabapentin better, and it seems to be not-as-long-lasting. Gabapentin was one of the very last medications, of many, that I tried at the recommendation of a physician. Please let me know your experience with gabapentin. Thanks! I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in December 2023. I've taken gabapentin before for pain. It worked really well but made me feel like a zombie. I also felt like my legs were a ton of bricks. I stopped taking it. I took it twice a day, and that may be why I had those side effects. I have been on Gabapentin twice, once for seizures and once for occipital neuralgia. It's definitely dulling and I had a huge problem with short-term memory when I was on it. It did, though, help with the pain. Finally found a GP who recommended gabapentin for RLS, and it works about 85% of the time, which is better than walking around apartment for 3 hours to try to stop it, jabbing the end of a chopstick into my calf, and crying with frustration. I've been on Gabapentin for fibro for 5+ years (300mg twice a day) for joint and muscle pain. I don't have any negative side-effects and have not had a bad flare in 5 years--a little neck/shoulder blade ache some evenings, but Tylenol takes care of that. A bit, I've gone up to max dose 3600 mg a day and the libido was great. Now since two weeks I've started with an antidepressant called " Sensaval", it really helps regarding the CPTSD'n and the depression, also good for Fibromyalgia and IBS, but this medicine takes the passion away. It is specifically for Fibromyalgia and Diabetic Neuropathy. I started with 25 mgs 2x/day which greatly helped for 2 yrs. Then I had breakthru pain and had to increase to 50mgs bid. Gabapentin is supposed to be a very safe painkiller. It worked pretty well for me when I took it at night. It lasts 12 hours in my system, so I can only take it if I remember early enough in the evening. Gabapentin is extremely effective for my neuropathy. In 20 years I have never found anything better, and I am very happy that it works for me at the lowest prescribed dosage. A word of caution: be very careful when taking gabapentin with other medications that have sedative effects. I'm 20f, and I started taking Savella recently. I've tried Cymbalta and Tramadol for pain with bad side effects. I currently take 25mg of Savella, 1200mg of Gabapentin, 15mg of Meloxicam, and ibuprofen when needed. The Savella seemed to REALLY take the edge off of my pain, and I was really excited to move from the 50 to the 100mg. Firstly, beware Gabapentin has several lawsuits and legal issues against it, mostly from memory loss. Pfizer literally plead guilty to marketing it for off label uses such a fibromyalgia. Not only did it do nothing for my pain and others close to me, the brain fog majorly affected my life and work. Has anyone tried gabapentin for their fibromyalgia pain? What were your experiences and how well did it work for you? I am currently taking it now
