In fact, people can experience withdrawal symptoms for up to 45 days after they stop taking gabapentin. Although gabapentin does give some people a euphoric “high” which can cause gabapentin abuse, gabapentin abusers do not present with the kind of compulsive, drug-seeking behavior or strong cravings that indicates addiction. But the past three nights I had a headache every time, about thirty minutes after I took my gabapentin. This morning I also have a similar headache. I actually am taking 900 mg of Gabapentin 3Xs a day for seizures and migraine prevention. My seizures have decreased, but I do still have migraines and tension headaches, but not nearly as often. I was also told headaches were a side effect until the right dose is found. Currently trialing Gabapentin and that's working pretty amazingly well as a preventative for me after a lifetime of migraines that stem from the neck and shoulders (not to mention other bodily pains).
