gabapentin for sleep and anxiety reddit trazodone and gabapentin for dogs anxiety how long

my dog! he does not like being restrained at all and the vet dispensed 600mg gaba with 150mg trazodone before an appointment to do an ear culture. i knew that when those drugs are used together, it just makes them more potent. so i even had someone come over to help me get him in the car. gave it an hour and a half to kick in and still nothing. you could not even tell i gave him anything. but 50mgs of Trazodone helped my anxiety and actually boosted my mood all day. I don't know if it was because I finally got 6 hours of sleep or it helped my depression/anxiety. 300mg of gabapentin completely took care of torturous restless legs. I'm such a better person to hang out with and work with now. Everything else, which includes ambien, trazodone, gabapentin, melatonin, valerian, chamomile, lavender, and a whole array of your typical prescription medications and herbal supplements have never worked for sleep or anxiety. I take 600mgs of gabapentin for anxiety 3xs a day in addition to 2 beta blockers that are also supposed to help ease the anxiety AND 1mg of ativan. The gabapentin is what they put me on most recently and it didn't seem to help much until my dose was significantly increased. I do very much believe it's helping now. "Gabapentin enhances slow-wave sleep in patients with primary insomnia. It also improves sleep quality by elevating sleep efficiency and decreasing spontaneous arousal. The results suggest that gabapentin may be beneficial in the treatment of primary insomnia." Some alternatives are Gabapentin, Hydroxyzine, and buspar. for sleep a few alternatives that may help are Trazodone, Seraquel (can be prescribed for anxiety too in lower doses), Mirtazepine (low dose), Zyprexa is what's called a thienodiazepine which isn't quite the same as a benzodiazepine but shares some similarities and can help with sleep Although evidence is limited, some studies show gabapentin can help with anxiety symptoms. One 2020 review suggests gabapentin may help with different types of situational anxiety, This infuriates me. A psychiatrist put me on it because it’s “so non-habit forming”. I can quit taking the 1mg benzo I have been prescribed at any time without side effects. Missing gabapentin for less than 24 hours and I’m covered in sweat and have terrible insomnia. Wtf is wrong with prescribers i have been in gabapentin for a little over one month. the VA started me at 300 tid, then 400, then 600, and now i am at 800 tid. i have definitely gained some fat but i so stay very active and eat consciously. my pain and anxiety are definitely lower and my sleep has greatly improved. i was prescribed gabapentin to stay off alcohol and phenibut Welcome to /r/gabapentin, here we primarily discuss issues pertaining to the medical, prescribed use of Gabapentin, Lyrica and Phenibut, as well as other Gaba related drugs. This IS NOT the subreddit for discussion of how to get high or otherwise abuse GP. I just started Gabapentin for anxiety. I do also take 87.5mg Zoloft (I'm edging myself up to the goal of 100mg, slowly), and 150mg of Lamictal. I have dysthymia and GAD, with some social anxiety as well. I've been given almost all non-benzo sleep aids (trazadone, remeron, lunesta, hydroxyzine etc) and gabapentin is the only one that really helped. Admittedly I take 300mg like 5hrs before bed and top off with two more doses later just for a nice relaxing evening. I’ve struggled with anxiety for over 7 years. Tried many SSRI’s and SNRI’s and buspar. Minimal help. Supplemented with klonopin (posted this recently as a topic). I just started using 300 mg gabapentin (100 mg in morning and 200 mg) in evening). Seems to be helping. Anyone else using it? I take gabapentin daily for my anxiety, but I also tend to take 2-3 day breaks in between to break up my tolerance every few weeks, those in between days are pretty brutal as the withdrawal usually begins around the 24 hour mark, and I usually lose an entire night of sleep. I take gabapentin for insomnia nightly 300 mg. I was directed by my doctor that it should not be taken as needed and has to be taken consistently. It doesn’t really help me feel sleepy. But once I get to sleep, I get much better and more restful sleep. Gabapentin keeps my sciatica pain to a minimal. I've taken this drug for the last four years ranging in doses between 300-6000 mg depending on what I was attempting to do. Regarding sleep, I find no difference taking it vs not taking it by itself. If I add a benzo or cannabis, sleep can come on easier without feeling groggy.
