Gabapentin has only given me a slight headache when it starts kicking in, goes away shortly after coming on. I take 2 600mg a day, bumped up from 300mg twice a day. I take them with my cyclobenzaprine as well. Does anyone who takes Gabapentin at night experience a hangover effect? Like fog or fatigue the next day? I experienced it in the beginning. It seems to help me sleep some but I wake with what feels like a hangover. The pharmacist said it takes awhile for the body to get use to this med. Anyone else experience this? Maybe try other sleeping meds before going to gabapentin because you will regret it one day. I take Clonidine for sleep and it's pretty great honestly. 0.3 at night and there's no "hangover" effect like with other sleeping pills. Also half of one is great for anxiety and won't make me tired. Being so dependant on something is the worst feeling Gabapentin isn’t a sleeping pill, tho it’s used off label for that. I take it for Rls and don’t notice a hangover. I even take doses during the day and it doesn’t make me too drowsy (just a little ) Depending on the dose yes. 1200mg+ will get you feeling really good. Spread it out, 300mg at a time, with fatty foods and soda. And aleve beforehand helps it absord but isn't super necessary. It's helped me a lot in the beginning. If you’re taking gabapentin, avoid driving until you know how it affects you. I want to quit alcohol and stay on gabapentin but it’s just so hard. The pain is unbelievable and so debilitating. It’s great for a hangover but just be soooo careful man and don’t get stuck like me. gabapentin mixed with alcohol could potentially make you dizzy and have trouble focusing, however some studies suggest it might help with alcohol dependence. it might be best to just ride out the hangover without taking any meds. Just experienced 4 days of gabapentin withdrawal. It was hell. My doc was on holiday and I forgot to get my prescribtion, so I just taught why not, try to leave it for a few days.
