I told the doctor the same thing today; I can't be depressed and overweight. 🙄 I was initially prescribed mirtazapine to fight Pristiq-induced insomnia, and here I am. Depression and anxiety got better thanks to Pristiq 100mg, insomnia fought with mirtazapine, sleeping like a baby. Abnormalities in the gaba system from staying on zyprexa for many years may be why I can’t sleep without zyprexa. Anyways, I’m interested about if it helps anyone for sleep and at what dosage. I was on 1300mg a day and it made me relaxed but it didn’t put me to sleep. Tried for sleep. It worked a few nights happening then stopped. Gabapentin keeps my sciatica pain to a minimal. I've taken this drug for the last four years ranging in doses between 300-6000 mg depending on what I was attempting to do. Regarding sleep, I find no difference taking it vs not taking it by itself. Last night, finally I slept 7 hours with gabapentin. I initially started gabapentin for insomnia. It did not help me with sleep onset, but helped amazingly well for sleep maintenance. At first. About a year after taking 200-300mg per night, it suddenly made my insomnia worse. I was tolerant to it and dependent on it. On gabba, my insomnia worsened the 2nd half of night, IE from 3 AM to 6 AM. Getting to sleep was generally okay but i'd always wake up too early. BACKGROUND: I had insomnia before Gabba (Maintentance Insomnia). I started taking 300 mg for Restless leg, which started when I got Covid in mid August (2 months ago) and was beyond dehabilitating. I hear you. More than once I went back up and stayed there until I felt better. Be sure you are communicating with your doctor. It took me 8-9 months to taper off of Gabapentin, and I had only been at the full dose for about 10 days before having my bad reaction. It often helps people sleep better, it does for me , so you might be able to come off the Seroquel, which is a much more damaging drug. The bad side effects are a small subset of the people taking it, and those are the ones who post most often on a board like this Reddit board. As a new user of Gabapentin, prescribed for insomnia, at just a 100mg dose before bed so far I haven't seen the sleep benefits yet but really hope they come at slightly higher doses. I started taking gabapentin for insomnia, started at 100mg and it was working pretty well at first but gradually made my way to 400mg and wow it really helps. I stopped taking it nightly since things were getting better with my sleep, and I was fine for about a month or two, but now I am finding I'm not reaching deep sleep and waking up more in By taking gabapentin at this higher dosage, I believe, I suppressed my ANS from overreacting to sleep apnea events allowing me more restorative sleep. It's only been 3 days but the improvement is drastic from being a zombie. Gabapentin looses its effectiveness for sleep. Tolerance is a thing with this as far as sleep goes, it still helps the reason i’m prescribed it for at night but it’s sleep effects diminishes. I can double my dose if i need to but rather keep my dose low. If you started at 100, 200, 300 and increasing it for sleep you’ll understand.
