Is gabapentin safe to take while pregnant? It’s literally scheduled in my state because it’s being used around the country for people to get high, just because it’s a narcotic doesn’t mean it’s terrible for you or causes terrible side effects, but if people around the country get high off of it imagine what (for example) my 1200mg per day would do to a baby. But gabapentin feels like Adderrall without the train ride effect. I was on Adderrall and over time became addicted (my diagnosis) because it made me lose weight, helped social anxiety, helped chronic fatigue and depression but I kept having to up the dose. The only pregnancy-related study on the drug was on animals, and it said that at doses much much higher than they would prescribe for any human, animal fetuses had abnormalities. It wasn't any more specific than that. I am only 3 weeks 5 days pregnant (got the first positive test last Friday). This sheet is about exposure to gabapentin in pregnancy and while breastfeeding. I had been taking Lyrica 150mg - 300mg per day around the time of conception but switched to Gabapentin 900mg - 1600mg per day due to financial reasons (Lyrica is not covered by Pharmacare). My doctor said I should stop taking gabapentin but wasn’t completely sure how it would affect me.
