Totally agree with the other comment. It’s a combination of many things to manage my CPTSD and healing. Medication wise I take 5mg of Trintellix daily, 10mg of propranolol as needed (3-5x a week) for physical anxiety/panic symptoms, .5mg of Xanax as needed for mental anxiety/panic symptoms (1-2x a week). A case is presented in which a patient diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) who had been taking multiple medications with little clinical response was placed on gabapentin treatment with beneficial results. Be sure to check out our new (and frequently updated) Official DPDR Resource Guide, which has lots of helpful resources, research, and recovery info for DPDR, Anxiety, Intrusive Thoughts, Scary Existential/Philosophical Thoughts, OCD, Emotional Numbness, Trauma/PTSD, and more, as well as links to collections of recovery posts. Evidence does not support the use of gabapentin for bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder (MDD), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), stimulant use disorder, or opioid withdrawal. i took gabapentin for a little over a month, my rheumatologist gave it to me but didn’t notify me of the potential side effects, other than drowsiness. this is a pretty rare side effect, but my whole body (mostly in my legs) was extremely swollen for weeks and i blamed it on everything other than the medication, because i didn’t know it was I found that when I was taking Klonopin for anxiety due to trauma event that has caused long term PTSD, it had a rebound effect each afternoon when it was wearing off. I was finally able to stop that medication after six years. Hi all, I was prescribed Gabapentin for the first time years back for my PTSD, and honestly 300 mg at night helped, but I remember that it felt I take 400mg 3x a day. Although, I do generally miss my midday dose. At first it caused a lot of short term memory haze. Kind of like disassociating where you're mentally checked out but your body is going through the motions. Doses of around ~3000mg are effective for mood uplifting/euphoria, anxiolytic effects and sociability (roughly 10 300mg pills). GABA analogues are very effective at treating the physiological components of PTSD, as are NMDA antagonists like ketamine and DXM. Welcome to /r/gabapentin, here we primarily discuss issues pertaining to the medical, prescribed use of Gabapentin, Lyrica and Phenibut, as well as other Gaba related drugs. This IS NOT the subreddit for discussion of how to get high or otherwise abuse GP. I have heard good things about Gabapentin for anxiety issues. My problems are Hypervigilance/Hyperarousal, extreme Startle Response, Problems with eye contact, and voice trembling. To those who have tried Gabapentin, did it help you with similar issues? Gabapentin nearly killed me too. One minute I was trying to do my homework, then something came over me and before I even realised what I was doing I was in the middle of a an Attempt. Then I found out that I couldn't just stop taking it at the dose I was on (300 x 4/day for pain management) and I had to taper off. Hi there, I have heard good things about Gabapentin for anxiety issues. My problems are Hypervigilance/Hyperarousal, extreme Startle Response I recently started taking Gabapentin to help with PTSD symptoms. Curious about other people's experiences with it. Reddit explains why: Do NOT exchange DMs or personal info with anyone you don't know! If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please contact your GP/doctor, go to A&E/hospital, or call your emergency services number. Reddit list: US and global, multilingual suicide and support hotlines. Suicide is not a forbidden word, but please do This includes the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. PTSD symptoms are a result of an overactive parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system. Gabapentin helps me with feelings of paranoia, panic, and anxiety. Before going on gabapentin, I was walking around paranoid that I would be abducted and killed by my abusers. No, but I am on pregabalin and it's really really similar. It's essentially just a newer version of gabapentin and it's often more effective with less a side effects, but more expensive so we often get put on gabapentin first (so if it's not working as well as you'd like, ask to try pregabalin). Look into TMS. There are two protocols: for anxiety and for depression. Currently there are active clinical trials of TMS for PTSD. But check with your psych, I don't think insurance will cover it for PTSD (if you are in US). So you would have to choose anxiety or depression treatment. And look into NAC. Late to the thread, but gabapentin 600mg (I'm slender, 120 lbs) twice a day helps level my mood swings triggered by hypervigilance. It also helps me experience positive emotions, but I am very aware of practicing gratitude, so the two go well together. I’ve taken both, had weird rash side effects from lamictal and gabapentin worked okay but made me feel very foggy and sort of hollow Now I just use cbd oil instead, haven’t taken any psych meds in quite a while.
