gabapentin to sleep reddit is gabapentin becoming a controlled substance

Gabapentin keeps my sciatica pain to a minimal. I've taken this drug for the last four years ranging in doses between 300-6000 mg depending on what I was attempting to do. Regarding sleep, I find no difference taking it vs not taking it by itself. If I add a benzo or cannabis, sleep can come on easier without feeling groggy. We would like to show you a description here but the site won’t allow us. If you look around reddit and google it as well, Gabapentin has helped A LOT of people with sleep issues. Especially when you can fall asleep but then wake up throughout the night. There are multiple studies you can read about as well. Gabapentin isn't actually a "sleeping pill" but because it causes drowsiness, it is frequently prescribed to help people sleep who also have leg pains/discomfort. For me, it simply didn't work. I was told that it takes awhile for Gabapentin to work so I stayed on them for about two months. Tried this med multiple times for sleep. It never helped me sleep. Assuming this has addictive properties not sure it is a great replacement, I would through it in the ring with things to avoid like benzodiazepines. Never for sleep but rather for peripheral neuropathy around the time I had a microdiscectomy on L4-S1. It might be fine for you. It often helps people sleep better, it does for me , so you might be able to come off the Seroquel, which is a much more damaging drug. The bad side effects are a small subset of the people taking it, and those are the ones who post most often on a board like this Reddit board. "Gabapentin enhances slow-wave sleep in patients with primary insomnia. It also improves sleep quality by elevating sleep efficiency and decreasing spontaneous arousal. The results suggest that gabapentin may be beneficial in the treatment of primary insomnia." Welcome to /r/gabapentin, here we primarily discuss issues pertaining to the medical, prescribed use of Gabapentin, Lyrica and Phenibut, as well as other Gaba related drugs. This IS NOT the subreddit for discussion of how to get high or otherwise abuse GP. I love gabapentin, but if you have severe nerve pain or restless legs I would recommend Lyrica (pregabalin). Pregabalin is about 3x stronger than gabapentin. Contrary to most comments on this, I love it. It would relax my mind and ease my anxiety. It helped me sleep so much better. In all honesty, it’s all about the right dose. I would not use Gabapentin off label for sleep. There’s much better meds for insomnia. I’m gabapentin lower dose for nerve issues at night (just nightly dose) and it’s sleep benefits dissipated quickly. I can take a larger dose to sleep but as an insomniac myself it only gives me “short sleep” as it cannot keep me asleep. I only have limited experience with gabapentin. I've used it 3 times, high-igh doses all three times, and I slept very well afterwards. But I wasn't primarily looking to use it as a sleep-aid though. I've been prescribed Gabapentin for sleep. I can only sleeping if I've had about 5 or 6 hours the night before but I'm tired through the day. If I sleep 8 hours I'm not tired enough to sleep that night. How well does Gabapentin work for sleep? I have insomnia and my doctor prescribed me 100mg to take every night to help me sleep. I'm just worried it might cause me bad side affects since I have never taken this drug. Anyone who is taking GP to sleep, could you please share how effective it is? I've been given almost all non-benzo sleep aids (trazadone, remeron, lunesta, hydroxyzine etc) and gabapentin is the only one that really helped. Admittedly I take 300mg like 5hrs before bed and top off with two more doses later just for a nice relaxing evening. This IS NOT the subreddit for discussion of how to get high or otherwise abuse GP. By taking gabapentin at this higher dosage, I believe, I suppressed my ANS from overreacting to sleep apnea events allowing me more restorative sleep. It's only been 3 days but the improvement is drastic from being a zombie. Past a certain point, gabapentin bioavailability begins to reduce. This means that taking more means it will actually be weaker ( source ) I lol whenever I read a comment about somebody taking 40 or so pills and complaining about how everybody else is bullshitting about the gabapentin high. Gabapentin puts me to sleep, and I am enjoying deeper, more restful REM stages. I highly recommend it for this condition. I was prescribed this for chronic pain, and this is a great bonus. i have been in gabapentin for a little over one month. the VA started me at 300 tid, then 400, then 600, and now i am at 800 tid. i have definitely gained some fat but i so stay very active and eat consciously. my pain and anxiety are definitely lower and my sleep has greatly improved. i was prescribed gabapentin to stay off alcohol and phenibut I finally got to see a neurologist at a sleep practice and he put me on 300 mg of gaba at bedtime and it has allowed me to sleep 4-5 hours per night when I had been getting 1-2 hours on average the last few months whilst on Trazodone and various OTC products. It helps me get to sleep but I’m still waking up at 4 or 5 am.
