My doctor gave me Gabapentin 300 mg capsules for lumbar nerve pain in 2008. The first capsule made my hands shaky, but it resolved by morning. I decided to try one more capsule. Within an hour my arms started punching like a marionette. Hi everyone, did the medication Gabapentin help with the twitching for anyone on here or no? I’ve been on it for about 3 1/2 days and seen no difference. I have an EMG next week for upper extremities and the week after for lower. Super nervous as I have widespread twitching even in my toes. Share I have been taking gabapentin for a few months now and have been noticing large muscle spasms in my arms and legs, and sometimes my abdomen that makes me jerk forward a little. They don't hurt, they just surprise me. Is this a cause for concern? Anyone else have a similar issue? I'm on 300 mgs on lyrica, twice a day now and the twitching lessened. I don't know if I'll ever get feeling back in my foot, I don't even know if it's because of gaba, but the twitches have lessened significantly since going on lyrica. I knew the twitching was from the GABA, but I'm also wondering if it causes permanent nerve damage. It can really happen anywhere on my body, sometimes it's quick, other times the twitching happens a lot. I even have heart palpitations which my doctor may think that it's my heart muscles twitching too. But this isn't confirmed yet. But yes, there is something with gabapentin that causes muscle twitching and in higher doses even tremors. Buuuut I've noticed that I'm twitching a lot? Mostly in my legs/feet, but sometimes my lower back feels like it twitches/spasms or something. It doesn't hurt, it's just annoying. Also, it happens mostly when I lay down. Researchers aren’t quite sure how gabapentin works to treat numbness and muscle twitching in MS. A few studies have looked at gabapentin for treating muscle spasms in MS, and they found that it significantly improved spasticity (muscle stiffness and pain) compared to a placebo (inactive drug). I've been on gabapentin 300mg supposed to be once per day but I've increased it to 3 times. The twitching and muscle cramping is ruining my life. Get woken up with severe cramps and the twitching I have videoed where sometimes my arm literally jumps. Does anyone on here have this experience? I have taken 6 300mg gabapentin tabs for about 4-5 years for SFN pain and fasciculations. It really helps a lot but I’m anxious about PN nonetheless. I tried weaning myself down a few weeks ago and the twitches went nuts. I’m tapering now and curious to see if it will go away once I’m off for awhile. Twitching is a common side effect of gabapentin and other anti convulsants. I’ve seen people on here say it goes away awhile after quitting. Your muscles started twitching at random and you did the mistake of googling? Now you might have learned that the twitches are called fasciculations and the web tells you it’s a symptom of something bad. But it’s not, typically it is just something called Benign Fasciculation Syndrome (BFS) and while annoying, it’s totally harmless. About two weeks ago my doctor prescribed me gabapentin for my nerve pain. Its 100mg and i take 3 capsules three times a day. Among many other side effects such as me feeling out of it or loopy, o begin to twitch sometimes when its around the time for my next dose. Ten years ago my entire body suddenly started twitching and jerking within an hour of taking the 2nd consecutive 300 mg dose. Evidently doctors don’t know about Acute Dyskinesia, and they insist that Gabapentin couldn’t cause this. This may affect your ability to drive or perform other activities. Other gabapentin side effects include edema (fluid buildup), weight gain, and eye problems, but these aren’t as common. It doesn't seem like a high dosage 300mg a day, 1 pill at night, but I noticed there is a huge increase in body twitches ever since, mainly in the legs. I never really noticed any twitching until I started using it, and I have 2 ongoing twitches that seem to going off non-stop. My girl was prescribed gabapentin for feline hyperesthesia. She acclimated pretty quickly and was back to her normal self after a day or two. She was never very sluggish on it, though. Once the dose wears off her back almost immediately starts to ripple and twitch again.
