This IS NOT the subreddit for discussion of how to get high or otherwise abuse GP. For gabapentin, I had horrible side effects and it did not help my pain at all. I felt no difference on vs off it, even on a high dose. Lyrica, however, is the only thing that helps me. I am on what my dr considers a small dose (100mg/day) and it keeps my pain at a 0-low amount, low/moderate on a bad day. Pregabalin (Lyrica) and gabapentin (Neurontin) are both approved to treat nerve pain. How are they different, and which one is preferred? Compare both meds here. My bestie had terrible side effects with gabapentin, but Lyrica is great for them. I'm tapering down on gabapentin (from 2700 daily to 600) and starting Lyrica. After almost two weeks it seems positive for overall pain management, but my diabetic neuropathy related nerve pain is noticeably worse. While this is good info about Pregabalin six times stronger (it also has 90% bioavailability and this doesn’t change with the dose or with food while Gabapentin’s bioavailability goes down the more you take at once and absorbs better with food particularly fats) however I don’t necessarily like the analogy of light beer vs hard liquor because it’s not that simple. Gabapentin and pregabalin are similar drugs but differ in several distinct ways. The main differences are their indications—specific uses that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved them to treat—and their dosages. Gabapentin is indicated as adjunct therapy for partial seizures and postherpetic neuralgia. 4 Pregabalin is indicated for the same uses as gabapentin, plus the management of fibromyalgia and neuropathic pain associated with diabetes, specifically diabetic neuropathy. 5 I wondering which is better, Gabapentin or Lyrica? Yeah UpToDate lists severe renal problems in the <1% probability group, and with that frequency, who knows if the pregabalin was actually the cause. OP, I think it's often just a matter of which one a person tolerates better, and physician bias/preference. Fwiw, pregabalin is more potent and has quicker onset of action. Gabapentin is cheaper. Pregablin is nearly identical to Gabapentin but substantially better, since it is much more potent and can be taken in a large single dose, unlike gabapentin which is taken in multiple small doses to maximize absorption. The worst however, was my memory went to shit and as someone who has a great memory, this really worried me and what ultimately made me switch to lyrica. The only side effects from lyrica I recall are blurred vision. Lyrica did not work pain relief wise, as well as gabapentin, but was effective enough. Gabapentin vs Pregabalin (Recreational Effects.) It would be very interesting to hear of people's experiences with both chemicals, preferably from someone who has experiences in both. As someone who has used both recreationally several times, I've noticed that they were both very similar yet differed in very important aspects. Lyrica is identifal to Gabapentin, but Lyrica is 6x stronger, lasts longer and IMO is much better for anxiety. If you do switch to Pregabalin you will have less side effects since you already have tolerance to Gabapentin unless you take a break before switching. Hello! I have MDD and GAD with obsessive thinking. I’m on Trintellix 20mg and Gabapentin 1,200mg/day, which my doc put me on for GAD. At the I had taken Lyrica for years, then suddenly it caused edema. My feet and legs started swelling to the point that I ended up in the emergency room when my practitioner thought I had a blood clot. My rheumatologist changed me from Lyrica to gabapentin, and I’ve had no further trouble.
