We describe a 12-year-old boy with a history of attention deficient hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), reading disorder, mixed receptive and expressive language disorder, encopresis, and bipolar disorder II who was treated with gabapentin 200 mg/day added to methylphenidate 30 mg/day. Gabapentin seems to make taking stimulant ADHD medication much more tolerable for some people. It counterbalances the edgy feeling that one might get from using amphetamine or methylphenidate. Overall, gabapentin should be considered on a case-by-case basis if you suffer from ADHD. It My own anecdote: I used to take gabapentin (100mg qd -> I think I maxed out at 300mg tid) for neuropathic pain and I actually found my ADHD to be way worse in that period, plus lots of negative side effects I really disliked (ESPECIALLY feeling like I was constantly drunk).
