Gabapentin is an oral capsule sold under the brand name Neurontin or as a lower-priced generic drug. It’s primarily used to treat partial seizures in adults and children. Oral Solution are supplied as imprinted hard shell capsules containing 100 mg, 300 mg, and 400 mg of gabapentin, elliptical film-coated tablets containing 600 mg and 800 mg of gabapentin or an oral solution containing 250 mg/5 mL of gabapentin. Neurontin is used in adults to treat neuropathic pain (nerve pain) caused by herpes virus or shingles (herpes zoster). Neurontin is also used to treat seizures in adults and children who are at least 3 years old. Use only the brand and form of gabapentin your doctor has prescribed. 2.1 Dosage for Postherpetic Neuralgia.
