I’m currently dealing with a neurological issue for which injections have so far failed, and have discussed with the doctor the possibility of trying gabapentin (Neurontin) as a second form of treatment before the last shot. I'm struggling with the withdrawal symptoms from effexor, and my NP prescribed gabapentin to help with the anxiety and burning nerves pain. Not once did she say that I would have to go through all of this again when stopping gabapentin. Gabapentin seems to only affect me if I take like 1200mg or more. I’m prescribed 600mg a day but I don’t take them everyday so I have 2 whole prescriptions of the 300mg capsules plus a few extra. Gabapentin is great for neuropathic pain. But non-neuropathic pain doesn’t generally respond to Gabapentin for reasons which in my mind make sense physiologically. You don't need to take gigantic doses throughout the day and it isn't as confusing to dose either. I can take a couple hundred milligrams of Lyrics and feel great. I've been prescribed neurontin for nerve pain at 2700mg a day, in divided doses of 900mg, but to be honest after every dose I feel off my tits. It definitely works on the nerve pain but the side effects are so weird. Music enhancement, CEVs, trouble walking properly and slurring words. Just experienced 4 days of gabapentin withdrawal. It was hell. My doc was on holiday and I forgot to get my prescribtion, so I just taught why not, try to leave it for a few days. I got 3x 600mg a day because of neuropathic pain. Right now I sit here and got a prescription from a another doc and already took 2x 400 MG per 30 mins to taper up. Gabapentin needs to be taken with lots of fat and sugar and needs to be dosed in spaces, while Pregabalin needs to be taken on an empty stomach and all at once I liked Pregabalin a bit more, very clearheaded and euphoric in contrast to benzos, the traits a bit stronger than Gabapentin. The acidity helps it absorb in the stomach. Trust me. Do this. Once you've taken the last pill, have a nice meal. This drastically aids your body's absorption. We would like to show you a description here but the site won’t allow us. Gabapentin works for me. Also No alcohol and I try to reduce sugar to 0. I take B1 and B12 but i think Gabapentin and diet change is the best option for me. Alcohol was the reason for my neuropathy though so i guess depending on the cause might have different remedies. Different brand names and formulations of gabapentin are available, each with specific uses and dosing instructions.
