Gabapentin is widely prescribed for management of peripheral neuropathic pain syndromes. To our knowledge, however, these two case reports are the first to describe sciatica successfully controlled with gabapentin. Gabapentin is not considered a first line agent for acute sciatic flares, but evidence supports its use for chronic neuropathic nerve pain. This can be hell, I just started this medication again, and intend on trying to soldier through the side effects this time, as it's bilateral sciatica now.
