How much gabapentin is too much? So through trial and error my old vet and I figured two doses of Gabapentin at 100mg/each so 200mg total, and 10mg of acepromezine. This round it was lowered to 75mg tabs of gabapentic so 150mg total, plus the same amount of ace. It is common in my experience for a feisty cat at the vet to need a high dose of gabapentin when adrenaline is high, and be overwhelmed by the same dose when adrenaline is low at home. We do our best to judge what dose will efficiently and safely accomplish what needs to be done. Gabapentin typically has an 8-12 hour dosing interval.
