Gabapentin is sold under the brand name Neurontin and is available as a generic product as well. (Generic medications are chemically the same as brand-name drugs but may cost less.) Gabapentin is commonly known for its use in managing neuropathic pain and other neurological conditions. There have been some reports of gabapentin misuse and abuse, particularly in people with a history of drug abuse. Be alert for this possibility.
