gabapentin 300mg anxiety reddit neurontin allergic reaction

I just started Gabapentin for anxiety. I do also take 87.5mg Zoloft (I'm edging myself up to the goal of 100mg, slowly), and 150mg of Lamictal. I have dysthymia and GAD, with some social anxiety as well. The research that has been done and the literature on the Gabapentin for anxiety is actually a pretty high dose upwards of 2400-3600mg to actually be chronically effective from what I’ve read. I never want to utilize said dose. Stay at 300, and as soon as you start to notice rebound anxiety, or reduced effectiveness, back off a good ways. If you need to go over 300, assuming it used to work, then that's a good sign you've gone too far. I had no nerve damage prior it started on the gabapentin and went off it. Gabapentin also isn’t a first choice for anxiety and they didn’t mention if they were on other meds prior. Which they should definitely check. Gabapentin most definitely isn’t a med to mess around with, it reacts similar to Xanax or opioids. Thanks:) what dose works for your anxiety is I may ask? I’m trying to figure out what works best for me. When I take 300 mg-600 mg, I feel tired calm. But when I take 900-1200 mg a day, I find my anxiety actually gets much worse as I feel way too stimulatedso for me, a lower dose seems to work best for my anxiety. But hard to know. I take 300 MG as needed for anxiety. It definitely helps and taking it as needed has helped with not needing to increase dosage. The first time I took it I felt so "normal" if that makes sense. I’ve struggled with anxiety for over 7 years. Tried many SSRI’s and SNRI’s and buspar. Minimal help. Supplemented with klonopin (posted this recently as a topic). I just started using 300 mg gabapentin (100 mg in morning and 200 mg) in evening). Seems to be helping. Anyone else using it? Gabapentin is helpful to some people with specific pain problems as many in the comments are suggesting. However if you are getting TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) to treat depression and/or anxiety keep in mind gabapentin can actually reduce the efficacy of the treatment. I have been prescribed 200/300mg up to 3x a day and it’s good for masking anxiety sometimes but then you get used to it and when you feel your anxiety unmuted again you want to take another gabapentin. i try to use it twice a day, once in the AM once in the PM but it doesn’t make me super tired it just give me a little bit of a cushion to relax onto when I need it (cptsd etc). i’m not I took gabapentin for neuropathy & fibromyalgia and never noticed it doing much of anything for either one (or my anxiety)—it just made me gain a lot of weight. The thing that actually stopped my frequent panic attacks was prozac, and now that I'm medicated for ADHD, my anxiety has gone down even further. It has helped my anxiety for sure, as a result however I found myself over time (about 5 months into daily dose of 300mg morning and 300mg at night) depressed and lethargic with memory issues. I really don’t like my anxiety but I do like personal growth and remembering things, which I find to be much harder on this medication. Was prescribed 300mg Gabapentin to take for anxiety as needed. Tonight was the first night I needed it. I took it I think an hour or so ago and now I’m starting to feel a bit more calm and relaxed but I’m not sure. I’m a very anxious person and I’m very afraid of new medication and side effects. My doctor just prescribed me Gabapentin 100mg 3x per day for anxiety. She said she’s had much success with patients who can’t use benzos. And the online reviews are very positive. Has anyone taken it off label for anxiety? If so, what was your optimum dosage? And how long did it take to start working? Thank you! First let me say I’m a neuroscientist and not a medical doctor, my advice should not be taken as “Medical advice”. Gabapentin 300mg taken once a day is going to do absolutely nothing and if they’re telling you it’s going to help your anxiety they’re either idiots or they’re hoping to give you a “placebo effect”. Gabapentin i I see im a bit late to the party but I wanted to share my experiences with using gabapentin to help with the social/mood aspects of my anxiety and depression. I have been taking 2 300mg capsules per day right before work for a long time and the effects it provides are nothing short of miraculous. Initially was prescribed 300mg to help with anxiety and trouble sleeping, but it wasn’t strong enough. About a month later my Dr. upped the scrip to 600mg and it’s been the perfect amount for me since last August.
