At the beginning of March 2020, several new drugs were added to Oklahoma’s controlled substance list. This list exists in addition to the federal drug list. Any substance on either list is also automatically classified as a controlled substance in Oklahoma. At the national level, gabapentin is not classified as a controlled substance under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). This means it is not subject to the stringent regulations that apply to opioids or benzodiazepines, which are categorized based on their potential for abuse, medical use, and safety. 36. Is Gabapentin a Controlled Substance in Tennessee and does it require a DEA to prescribe?
