I had increased anxiety, felt weird, and was getting weird muscle twitches and body jerks. I’m asking my doc to switch me back to Gabapentin because for me personally it works and feels way better/safer. If the max dosage of Gabapentin ever stops working for me I’ll give lyrica another try. I’ve struggled with anxiety for over 7 years. Tried many SSRI’s and SNRI’s and buspar. Minimal help. Supplemented with klonopin (posted this recently as a topic). I just started using 300 mg gabapentin (100 mg in morning and 200 mg) in evening). Seems to be helping. Anyone else using it? Basically you get a higher dose if you split the dose into parts throughout the day rather than one dose per day. The science of why this works is on the page I mentioned, so it is interesting that a doctor would take a total 600mg per day dose that's 300mg twice a day and change it to a full 600mg at once dose. My doctor just prescribed me Gabapentin 100mg 3x per day for anxiety. She said she’s had much success with patients who can’t use benzos. And the online reviews are very positive. I just got prescribed 300mg of Gabapentin 3x a day, with the possibility to increase to 4x a day if needed. This is for long term management of anxiety but reading about everyone’s experience online is really stressing me out. To explain it better, a pleasurable yet slightly speedy body high with mental euphoria and difficult to stop talkativeness topped off with mild to moderate anxiolysis. I take 600mgs of gabapentin for anxiety 3xs a day in addition to 2 beta blockers that are also supposed to help ease the anxiety AND 1mg of ativan. The gabapentin is what they put me on most recently and it didn't seem to help much until my dose was significantly increased. I do very much believe it's helping now. Gabapentin is helpful to some people with specific pain problems as many in the comments are suggesting. However if you are getting TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) to treat depression and/or anxiety keep in mind gabapentin can actually reduce the efficacy of the treatment. I just realized my scrip is actually for 2400, but I cut the morning 600mg dose because it made my me pretty useless. The combination helps with anxiety, and it helps me sleep, and it completely controls the chronic nerve pain that was starting to make me think about an early exit. Life-changing and life-saving in my case. Yes, I take it approximately every 5 hours. I take 1800 every day. Works both for anxiety and insomnia. 600mg 3x a day has worked for 3 years. I was on lexapro for a few years which helped greatly but eventually the side effects outweighted any benefits the gabapentin helps a little but not that much and the weight gain is bad and hard to loose but thats the only side effect i get.
