I take 300mg which first Welcome to /r/gabapentin, here we primarily discuss issues pertaining to the medical, prescribed use of Gabapentin, Lyrica and Phenibut, as well as other Gaba related drugs. This IS NOT the subreddit for discussion of how to get high or otherwise abuse GP. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia for about 40 years now, so I have lived with the fatigue, mental fog, etc for a long time. The symptoms come and go depending on stress and exertion. What I have noticed since taking the gabapentin is that the symptoms don't seem to lessen when I am well rested and not overly stressed. I have been taking 1200mg of gabapentin for 7 yrs. My pain specialist had me taking the full dose at bedtime, but this past yr my psychiatrist suggested taking 400mg 3 times a day because it only stays in your system for 4 hrs. He told me it can have a somewhat sedating effect. Does anyone know, or has anyone had any experience with gabapentin causing long term chronic fatigue syndrome? I’ve been diagnosed with chronic fatigue recently after struggling for about two years and have been trying to pin down where it stems from, or what triggered it. Understanding the negative effects of Gabapentin can help patients make informed decisions about their treatment options. Commonly reported side effects of Gabapentin include: Fatigue; Dizziness; Coordination problems; Weight gain; Swelling of extremities; Difficulty concentrating; Increased anxiety or depression The problem is there is NO good solution. Gabapentin and Amitriptyline do cause significant daytime fatigue issues but they do touch and affect NERVE pain which Opioids do not do effectively. Do you think Opioids and steroids don't cause daytime fatigue? When you take Opioids, you cannot drive, work, or do much else. tapering from 1200/3x day. brain fog / feel confused all day long. depression. I feel like my blood pressure has been funky but idk how to tell. body aches. insane anxiety (though I started this drug for off label anxiety years ago) and general apathy. Gabapentin is less bioavailable at higher doses, and gabapentin also interacts and competes for absorption with common nutrients like magnesium and calcium. Wondering if gabapentin can cause fatigue that just doesn’t wear off, even after your body has acclimated to the medication. I’m 31F and on 1800mg daily. I am wondering if it’s the reason I’m confined to my bed whenever I’m not working (I work and sleep and do nothing else). Like last night I went to bed at 11:30pm. I woke back up at about 3:15am and I feel like I want to go for a jog. And I stay wide awake for a good 12-18 hours, and don't experience ANY considerable fatigue over the next 20 hours or so. Everyone else talks about how tired and drowsy it makes them. I am currently on 600mg x 3 of gabapentin for PHN. I have been on this dose for about 5-6 weeks. I am still so tired. Mostly in the afternoon after my 2nd dose of the day. According to studies, about 20% of people taking gabapentin experience drowsiness or fatigue. It may be even more likely, affecting 20% to 30% of people, with Horizant. However, tiredness is less common with Gralise, occurring in about 5% of people taking it. All that above being said, this syndrome of Gabapentin withdrawal has left me exhausted and still a ways to go. By far the lack of real sleep has been the most disabling part. I’m still only getting about 2-3 hours, then I’m up for hours, EVERY SINGLE NIGHT since I stopped the gabapentin. I had nausea, fatigue, headache, anxiety, and being roasting hot after coming off at my lowest dose of 300mg. I was on it from April to September, and my highest dose was 2700mg. I slowly tapered down, with my doctor's guidance. When I got down to taking 300mg, twice a day, I started getting withdraw. It made me feel slightly tired at first whenever I raised the dose but other than that I feel it actually gave me more energy. I’m tapering right now though because for me it caused severe constipation and bloating. Also weight gain from water retention and increase in appetite. Unfortunate because it did wonders for my anxiety. And I was only on 300 mg. Yes only 300 mg. Tapered down to 200 mg almost three weeks ago & I can’t believe how difficult it’s been. Far worse than coming off of benzos! I’ve experienced severe fatigue, crazy mood swings, insomnia, insane night sweats, trouble breathing, brutal headaches, nausea & bad muscle & joint pain. Brutal drug! Gabapentin 300mg in the morning & mid-afternoon then 600mg at bedtime. Duloxetine in the morning and at night. Rx for Gabapentin allows for 600mg three times a day. I don’t want to take that much so I supplement with 1-2 Tylenol in morning and 1 Advil in the afternoon if needed. Some nights I have trouble sleeping and get very little good sleep. Gabapentin has been one of my most helpful meds. I do feel a bit spacy on higher doses but that's all. I constantly try to find the best compromise between it being an effective dose without impacting my thinking too badly. I also struggled with brain fog long before ever starting gabapentin so I don't blame it entirely. For 3 years my daytime fatigue has been completely crippling. Years ago I took 300mg of gabapentin every once in a while (back when I didn't know I had sleep apnea) when I had a hard time staying asleep once a month, once a week, etc. -- at the time I thought it was just run of the mill insomnia.
