Her anxiety decreased to 0/10 within 48 hours of increasing gabapentin, and she remained in remission on gabapentin monotherapy for the next 70 days despite ongoing psychosocial stressors. At the end of this period, she started to develop some depressive symptoms (Patient Health Questionnaire 9 score of 17), though her anxiety remained mild. Evidence also suggests gabapentin is more effective in reducing the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal and certain types of anxiety than conditions like bipolar disorder, panic disorder, or panic attacks. I just started Gabapentin for anxiety. I do also take 87.5mg Zoloft (I'm edging myself up to the goal of 100mg, slowly), and 150mg of Lamictal. I have dysthymia and GAD, with some social anxiety as well. Yesterday I added 600mg in the early afternoon. I'll likely take 600mg three times a day but maybe only twice per day. In recent years, gabapentin has gained attention for its potential role in managing anxiety disorders, particularly for individuals who do not respond well to traditional anxiety medications like SSRIs or benzodiazepines. Although not officially approved for anxiety, gabapentin’s calming effects on the nervous system have made it a subject of I've had zero luck with gabapentin. I took it up to 400 mg 3x/day and my doc said there was no point in pushing it any higher if I didn't have any luck with it at that point. And yes, that is a tiny dose. Usually they start you on 300 mg 3x/day for anxiety. But try it and see. There's also pregabalin (Lyrica). We would like to show you a description here but the site won’t allow us. Answer (1 of 3): Yes, although it takes a fairly long time. I started taking Gabapentin in mid-2018 and I began to develop tolerance about six months later. I had developed complete tolerance in a year. Gabapentin reduced my anxiety tremendously. And I had it bad. But it all comes down to biochemistry and what it is what is causing the anxiety. I think a mistake people make is that if it doesn’t help at a low dose they raise the dose super high which can cause lots of side effects and make getting off hard. I take gabapentin daily for my anxiety, but I also tend to take 2-3 day breaks in between to break up my tolerance every few weeks, those in between days are pretty brutal as the withdrawal usually begins around the 24 hour mark, and I usually lose an entire night of sleep. I take 400x3 right now, but Thursday I plan on asking for 600x3. I’ve struggled with anxiety for over 7 years. Tried many SSRI’s and SNRI’s and buspar. Minimal help. Supplemented with klonopin (posted this recently as a topic). I just started using 300 mg gabapentin (100 mg in morning and 200 mg) in evening). Seems to be helping. Anyone else using it?
