I just started Gabapentin for anxiety. I do also take 87.5mg Zoloft (I'm edging myself up to the goal of 100mg, slowly), and 150mg of Lamictal. I have dysthymia and GAD, with some social anxiety as well. I’ve been using gabapentin for anxiety for a little over a month now. I only started taking a regular dosage of it twice daily about a week ago. It is helping me get through my days as I go through post acute withdrawal syndrome from nicotine and marijuana addiction (40+ days sober). Was Gabapentin for anxiety symptoms a game changer for you? I started to have anxiety symptoms in the middle of September. My doctor put me on an anti depressant even though I wasn't depressed, to help with the anxiety. Six weeks later I was not really feeling any effects. But the last stretch was the hardest. Days three through six were the worst when I stopped taking it completely but yesterday I was finally feeling normal and I was in a great mood. Which also never happened while I was taking the gabapentin. I took it for anxiety. Gabapentin free 5/13 I was feeling like crap and posted this Yes, I see more success stories than failure stories. I think it heavily depends on what the person takes gabapentin for and what they expect out of it, as well as dose and personal metabolic levels. Gabapentin works wonders for me, and I have a few VET friends who swear by it. If it weren't for gabapentin, my friend wouldn't get out of bed As we entered the new year, with my thoughts that Gabapentin was now behind me, I started to experience some very odd symptoms. Some of my muscles would randomly jerk. I was twitching a ridiculous amount. My anxiety/intrusive thoughts were drastically increasing, and I wasn’t sleeping well. I had no idea what was going on. My doctor just prescribed me Gabapentin 100mg 3x per day for anxiety. She said she’s had much success with patients who can’t use benzos. And the online reviews are very positive. Yup.prescribed. 900mg/day but usually only take 600 but with benzos too ( clonazepam and temazepam ) .. I was on lexapro for a few years which helped greatly but eventually the side effects outweighted any benefits the gabapentin helps a little but not that much and the weight gain is bad and hard to loose but thats the only side effect i get. for a while i was on a normal dose and felt great. after increasing my dose due to heightened anxiety about some life changes, i was on way too much of it (my psychiatrist is very pill-happy) and felt great at first but awful after a while. i thought the solution would be to quit, but once i tapered down to a reasonable amount (back to 300 2x a day) i feel amazing mood-wise. it helps a lot Looking for success stories of people who have taken gaba for these psychiatric reasons Have you found it to work? If so, what dose range has worked best for you where it helps but without bad side effects? Is there a particular dose range I should target? Do lower doses tend to help more with anxiety, depression, insomnia then higher doses? Its effects for anxiety work same or next day for me. But the longer its in your system the more you will notice your life change. I was having panic attacks 3-4 times a week. My anxiety was debilitating. I couldn't get out the house, socialize, work, or live life in general. Gabapentin helped tremendously. i could get back to life. My anxiety was through the freakin roof. Everyday I’d have a pit in my I’m also on Zoloft and gabapentin for anxiety. I have been taking 100mg 3x/day of gabapentin for the past 3 weeks and it has really been helping. I do still feel a bit drowsy for a few hours after each dose. Go to literally any subreddit for any psych med and you will hear all the horror stories posted here. I will say this, I was never one to suffer anxiety attacks very often, for me it was always that lingering constant anxiety. On Prozac that lingering anxiety is greatly reduced or often eradicated. However, i definitely do get more anxiety attacks now and they are much more debilitating. Anyone have a success story of trying Gabapentin for anxiety? I couldn’t note any help from gabapentin. I took it for a month. Is it not helping you? I’m not on it. Im thinking of asking for it tomorrow during my doctors appointment. Ive read it can be used Off-Label for anxiety. I've been on buspirone for anxiety. It definitely helped but it didn't give me the level of relief I needed. I recently started on gabapentin, 100mg 3x/day for nerve pain, but as a huge bonus, combining it with my buspirone actually worked wonders for my anxiety. I haven't tried gabapentin on its own though.
