Every vet I've ever seen here in France has recommended gabapentin for travel - a couple of weeks ago the vet that currently takes care of my cat told me they regularly use 100mg - 300mg on cats that get anxious about going to the clinic and have never had any issues whatsoever. Make sure your cat gets enough gabapentin in their system long enough before you start traveling. There is no reason to medicate for a 5hr flight and good reasons not to. I flew three cats back from Japan - two in cargo, one in the cabin. 12+ hour flight. They were fine. Meds can interfere with the cat’s ability to regulate their body temp. Just do without. It’s going to be around an 11-12hr day including the rest of our commute.
