Abstract Background. Postoperative sore throat (POST) is considered a usual complication after tracheal intubation, especially, thyroid surgery. Gabapentin is a widely studied multimodal perioperative drug, which can be used to treat acute postoperative pain. Yes, gabapentin can cause sore throat in some individuals. However, it is considered a rare side effect and may not affect everyone. Make sure you inform your healthcare provider right away and take all the precautionary measures to avoid the worsening of this side effect. These medications include gabapentin and throat pain.
