Problem I'm having is blurred vision, and a constant pounding headache. Will these side effects go away after a certain amount of time? These headaches will not go away, no matter what I take for them. It's affecting my life in a negative way. I started gabapentin a few days ago. 100mg twice a day. I took 100mg once a day and I'm on the 4th day. Don't take Gabapentin. Take Lyrica (Pregabalin) instead. It's the newer version on Gabapentin and has less side effects. It is expensive though, as it's still under patent by Pfizer. I take 400mg nightly and have done for three years. In that time, I've had roughly a migraine headache a month. I have had very serious WD from every SSRI I have ever tried. I have had absolutely zero WD symptoms from gabapentin. I know people who were in agony. I think it just depends on the person. Just taper. See how it goes. If you have symptoms, treat accordingly (headache, take OTC pain meds or rx if you have them). Anxiety, take magnesium. I've had chronic tension headaches for most of my adult life, at least 10 years. They've gotten worse in recent years. It's not unbearable, but it's pretty constant. I almost always feel a slight pressure around my eyes and a tightness at my temples. It's worse when under stress or when I'm overwhelmed with visual stimuli. Gabapentin is helpful to some people with specific pain problems as many in the comments are suggesting. However if you are getting TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) to treat depression and/or anxiety keep in mind gabapentin can actually reduce the efficacy of the treatment. I take 1200mg x3 gabapentin for my PPMS pain. I take .75mg amitriptyline at night for my headaches and ms pain. I take two .5 mg of melatonin and two Benadryl at night to help me calm my itchy skin (a MS skin sensation that is annoying at night). They help me fall asleep and stay asleep for eight hours. Gabapentin, hate it or love it? My doctor just prescribed me Gabapentin 300 mg 3x a day for neck pain. I’ve only been taking it once a day and I’ve slept somewhat better but otherwise been in more (maybe due to something else) or similar amounts of pain. I’m always hesitant to take drugs. I have developed neuropathy and the pain is insane. Gabapentin works amazingly for me but I am so damn afraid of it and cautious. I try to take is a max of 3 times a week. Only days I have to go into work n be on my feet as a precaution. Then only if pain starts. I don’t know what I’m afraid of more, the pain or taking Gabapentin. I have had a pounding severe headache unlike I've ever had before for 3 days. I've had migraines since I was 6 years old and have never had one like this. Normally I would take my migraine medicine, an ice pack on my neck, and a nap and be good to go. I can't shake this pounding headache especially when I sit down or move abruptly. It's a mild calmative, and seems to take the edge off the headache/pains, allowing for better sleep. But I'm rethinking what could happen with this drug after I took it 2 nights in a row. (All at just 200mg.) The second day I woke up noticeably angry and depressed. My consultant is away and the secretary recommended that I just go down to a lower dose of the gabapentin so I am now on 1200 mg but the headache is persisting. It varies between a burning pain and I squeezing pain and moves from the back, to the top and forehead. Oh your lucky, if I don’t take gabapentin I’ll only get 1-2-3 hours max sleep, when I take the gabapentin I get 5 if I’m lucky 6 hours, if I take more I get more sleep. Don’t feel groggy after having a coffee, but I’ve worked very hard on boosting my nad and all round energy levels, so that probably plays a role. On my third day of taking 100mg 3x a day. I already take 100mg of Zoloft. Woke up with a pounding headache. The worst headache. Pressure all over the top of my head and under my eyes. Tried paracetamol which hasn't touched it. I try avoid NSAIDs with the sertraline. I expects some side effects but I how long does this last usually? I came on here looking for something related to gabapentin. I just got on it and noticed almost immediately that I started getting this back of the head headaches in the am, kind of like thunderclap headaches but a little less in intensity. I usually sleep well, & don’t wake up through the night with a headache. They just occur during the day. My doctor swears gabapentin can’t cause that type of pain. She wants me to have a MRI. After reading about gabapentin on this site & others, I feel these issues may be due to withdrawal. Gabapentin is actually prescribed to treat chronic migraines, so I'm not sure it's a side effect of the medication. However, I'm prescribed gabapentin for chronic pain, and I have gotten symptoms of dizziness/drowsiness so bad that I feel it induced a headache. Past a certain point, gabapentin bioavailability begins to reduce. This means that taking more means it will actually be weaker ( source ) I lol whenever I read a comment about somebody taking 40 or so pills and complaining about how everybody else is bullshitting about the gabapentin high. I started on Gabapentin a few years ago when i had avascular necrosis. Not sure it did much for the pain but i was definitely relaxed. I've had fibromyalgia for years and pretty extreme sleep issues. I now take Gabapentin only before bed and have never had better sleep. It's been a game changer for me. When I was at lower doses of Gabapentin, my headaches were horrible, but as I titrated up, they've gotten fewer, less intense, easier to manage, and treatable with less medication.
