I have now had two weeks of terrible withdrawals - nausea and insomnia for 5-6 days but ongoing heart palpitations (especially in the afternoon and evening) and high dayime anxiety. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Although the most frequent side effects of gabapentin are associated with the central nervous system, gabapentin can also affect the cardiovascular system. Case reports and observational studies have showed that gabapentin can be associated with increased risk of atrial fibrillation. I just made a post about this. While I was on the way to work today, I started getting bad heart palpitations after taking it earlier and eventually it led to a panic attack. I'm only on 100mg as needed but I think I'm gonna stop taking it as well. For what purpose you’re taking the Gabapentin drug. Yes, in acute cases or allergy cases it may cause palpitations. You also need to check for other causes for palpitations like hyperthyroidism, anxiety neurosis, infection or anemia or beri beri or functional or conductive heart problems et cetera. I have been tapering for a few days now and tonight my heart started to flip flop and it’s a very disturbing thing. But I also started prozac a few I have gone from drinking over a pot of coffee a day to 1 cup, or i have terrible anxiety and heart palpitations. This is pretty brutal. I think its been the hardest tapering dose because its the night time dose, being high on gabapentin in my sleep causes me to be sedated throughout the day, and the bump in the amount i would take before bed How can we know if you didn’t list your medications, second Gabapentin shouldn’t give you anxiety or heart palpitations, that’s not normal. Gabapentin is given out as a benzo replacement for anxiety, it shouldn’t cause it. I either haven’t experienced shallow breathing or just dont notice it unless mixed with other drugs Ive been taking fluoxetine (Prozac) 20mg for about a year and Gabapentin 200mg for about two and a half weeks now. I can feel my anxiety going down. My aches are minimizing, but a symptom I still feel are the heart palpitations. My heart constantly skips beats, as well as “thumps” and palpitates in short intervals. My symptoms are shaking, sweating, heart palpitations, anxiety, fear, RLS. The heart palpitations are frightening. I am attempting a very slow taper. Sorry to hear that. When I was in psych ward I was taking maoi and couldn’t sleep so was taking 12.5mg zopiclone and 300gaba and slept through the night and didn’t notice the heart rate too much, but now taking gaba by itself at night off the maoi, I wake up sweaty, tachy and feel awful. yes! i'm 57 and I've never had any heart issues and was taking 300 mg three times a day mainly for hot flashes. Then came the fluttering heart. It was happening a couple times a day. Every day. If it's true that gabapentin can cause heart failure/disease & AFib (another type of arrhythmia), then it's not too farfetched that it could be causing my PVCs/palpitations either. Hope all is well (or as well as it can be) with you, my dear! Yes, gabapentin can cause heart palpitations. Some people have experienced their heart beating too hard and fast after taking gabapentin. This side effect is most commonly experienced after an increase or decrease in dose, or when you start on a dose which is too high for you. Has anyone had heart palpitations with gabapentin? Both my PCP and rheum both say that the gaba I am on (only 300mg) isn’t the cause of them. EKG was I feel as though every time I take the Gabapentin, I get these crazy heart palpitations. When I get up to walk downstairs or take the dog out, my heart beats super fast and hard. I have had multiple tests including ECG & EKG and they say my heart is fine so I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this side effect from gabs? The most common gabapentin (Neurontin) side effects are dizziness and drowsiness. This may affect your ability to drive or perform other activities. Other gabapentin side effects include edema (fluid buildup), weight gain, and eye problems, but these aren’t as common. Was prescribed 300 mg three times a day. Took one capsule this morning and was so messed up. Dizzy, can’t walk in a straight line, and can’t focus. The weirder part is that my heart rate was almost taking longer to respond. I have been taking Gabapentin for about 6 years on & off at a dose of 200mg a day for panic attacks. It has usually always worked great. I have noticed blood pressure and heart rate increase when I take it & I have had to stop. I’m curious if anyone else experienced this?
