Hello. I've been on Gabapentin getting close to two years now at various doses between 900-2800mg a day for nerve pain. I've been very unfortunate to experience many many of the terrible side effects including serious short term memory issues and word recall problems along with other issues. I’ve been taking gabapentin 300mg 3x a day for about a year and it just started to get worse in the past couple months. At first I thought it was just weed, but i’ve probably smoked four times in the past four months so I know it’s not that. Not only did it do nothing for my pain and others close to me, the brain fog majorly affected my life and work. Early effects were balance and loss of short term memory, #1 effect is ongoing and #2 has largely dissipated. I would take, or not, who knows my morning meds and then 10 minutes later not be able to remember if I took them. I would be talking to someone and know what I wanted to say but couldn’t remember the words. I've been off the med since July, and I still have memory issues. Finding words, remembering names, movies, foods, Dr 's, places, etc I had a lot of side effects I chalked up to aging (43f). It's been 5 months, with only slight improvement. I think time is the only healer, unfortunately 🫂.
