The short answer is yes, shaking or tremors can be a side effect of gabapentin, although it is not among the most common ones. While gabapentin is primarily prescribed for nerve pain, seizures, and restless legs syndrome, it can sometimes induce or exacerbate movement-related issues such as tremors , myoclonus (sudden muscle jerks), and Gabapentin is helpful to some people with specific pain problems as many in the comments are suggesting. However if you are getting TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) to treat depression and/or anxiety keep in mind gabapentin can actually reduce the efficacy of the treatment. I know some folks are using Naltrexone and/or Guanfacine, NAC, but it seems that works for brain fog or energy, which is not my problem. Sending love and hugs to all. I’ve tried the churu method and my sensitive boy was deeply offended and wouldnt come near churus since. I had to mix TWO churu sticks per one gabapentin and dip his favorite crunchy snacks one by one. Just enough that he didn’t mind the taste. It took a large fistful of those treats to get about 80% of the gabapentin, which i was ok with. The first capsule made my hands shaky, but it resolved by morning. I decided to try one more capsule. Gabapentin is prescribed for dogs with anxiety, though, so it probably does increase her 'space brains'. You might find your dog sleeps more, or is a little less receptive / needy of your touch. She has been on gabapentin for several years now - and aside from her age and her mashed potato brains, she is a happy, healthy dog. Almost 1.5 years ago i started abusing lyrica and loved the high it would shed all my worries away and literally feel like i couldnt give a fuck His Gabapentin dosage was pretty high at the time, too. After stopping abruptly, I noticed he was very moody, kind of how you're describing your cat. But he'd also make a funny meow and start walking backwards, etc., so I thought it was nerve pain or phantom limb issues. His surgeon said Gabapentin withdrawal wasn't a thing. Gabapentin is a nerve inhibitor, so it is not in severe pain. If it was, the dog would be showing different signs and not be improving. Unless directed by the veterinarian to go to the emergency clinic immediately, it is completely reasonable to give medication time to do its work. ETA: My dog Millie takes Gabapentin and Trazadone prior to vet visits as she gets super squirrelly and hard to control. It just makes her sleepy. No negative side effects aside from that. It's a pretty common medicine. My last dog was on Gabapentin during her final years due to pain from cancer and she tolerated it very well. I’ve been taking gabapentin since the first week or two of March, and I’ve slowly been building up the dosage. Last week, I was moved up to 600mg/3 times daily, and I’ve started to have pretty bad twitching specifically in my wrist and fingers. No heat control, insomnia, nausea, no appetite, shaking internally and outwardly. Crying or raging for no reason, suicidal thoughts, acrophobia. Even moving the dosage around I would get this. I’m doing a slow taper now, I’m down from 900mg to 140mg. I know the lower your dose the harder it is. 🍀. i took gabapentin for a little over a month, my rheumatologist gave it to me but didn’t notify me of the potential side effects, other than drowsiness. this is a pretty rare side effect, but my whole body (mostly in my legs) was extremely swollen for weeks and i blamed it on everything other than the medication, because i didn’t know it was I can tell you with 100% certainty that tremors are a possible side effect for dogs who are actively taking Gabapentin. I took my dog off of Gabapentin briefly. The tremors immediately stopped. When I resumed Gabapentin, the tremors resumed. I spoke with my vet and was directed to take my dog off of Gabapentin. Again, the tremors immediately Since his dose has been upped that high he has been experiencing severe shaking and tremors. His heart races and his muscles twitch as well. You can visibly see his body shaking. I have been taking gabapentin for a few months now and have been noticing large muscle spasms in my arms and legs, and sometimes my abdomen that makes me jerk forward a little. They don't hurt, they just surprise me. Is this a cause for concern? Anyone else have a similar issue? Let me offer my advice as I have been using gabapentin on and off for over a decade. My method almost always leaves me with a high resembling a cross between a drug that releases dopamine, a mild euphoriant such as mdea, and a tiny dose of phenibut or moderate dose of baclofen. After taking Gabapentin (300mg, 3xs a day) for 10-yrs, I noticed increased tremors in my left side neck, right arm and left leg (like a z pattern). A nurse told me it's essential tremors, but I said it's from the Gabapentin.
