gabapentin tmj reddit gabapentin caps 400mg

I was put on Gabapentin not for TMJ but for a pinched nerve, and I wasn’t on it for about a month before I started to have memory problems (locked myself out of the house twice, left my car running with the keys in it when visiting family - only found out later when I went for a ride with them in their car and we went past my car and the Mechanism: Gabapentin and pregabalin structurally mimic the neurotransmitter GABA, which has an inhibitory effect on neurons. However, anticonvulsants are thought not to act on GABA receptors but rather on ion channels to inhibit neurons involved in pain transmission. I've been taking both gabapentin 300 mg 3x daily, and nortriplyline at night. The gaba was for extreme muscle tension in my back and neck and it's helping for my tmj too. I think the nortriplyline is helpful at night. I started both just a couple of months ago, 47K subscribers in the TMJ community. I took Gabapentin for a while BEFORE I was dx with TMJ or had any signs of involuntary clenching. late 2016 to late 2019 I was taking Gabapentin and had no issues with clenching or tmj issues just until I had a new retainer adjusted and restarted Zoloft around late October 2019. I felt kind of dizzy this afternoon. I've been taking 300mg of gabapentin every morning for exactly a week now. Ive had TMJ For about 2+ years. Never felt this way before. Should I keep taking the 300mg gabapentin? Will my body adjust/get used to it soon and I wont have dizziness? Or should I stop the gabapentin and try a different medication 49K subscribers in the TMJ community. A place for TMJD sufferers to share their fears, worries, stories and successes. We are not Drs. I took it for anxiety though and am really sensitive to medication. 47K subscribers in the TMJ community. A place for TMJD sufferers to share their fears, worries, stories and successes. We are not Drs. We cannot I felt kind of dizzy this afternoon. I've been taking 300mg of gabapentin every morning for exactly a week now. Ive had TMJ For about 2+ years. I had TMJ for years that turned to my jaw locking shut, went through physical therapy multiple times. That lady was a saint. The most effective thing though was not the therapy in the office but learning to relax my jaw subconsciously. i found that i really needed to do other interventions to treat the root cause of the tmj nerve compression pain (radiofrequency ablation, changes in my posture & a lot of lifestyle changes.. see my post!) to release the actual compression gabapentin will just temporarily relieve a symptom it wont treat the root cause My doctor prescribed me some gabapentin to help with the TMJ pain. I haven't started it yet because I'm afraid of side effects. I read in some cases it can affect your mood and cause further depression. Or does it just help with the pain TMJ causes? (I was prescribed 300mg a day of gabapentin by my neurologist recently). TMJ is so irritating and mine started before people realized it is a joint disorder, thus treatment wasn't really there. I can't help but think the possibilities are there that your Dr. may try to adjust the gabapentin to a higher dose, and try this until you reach the dosage limits, and you know it takes a few weeks to reach the true results. I’m only 16 and I have TMJ. I’ve had severe pain for a long time now. It was to the point where chewing ANYTHING would hurt my jaw for the whole day and I constantly thought about my pain. I’ve seen many doctors but recently I met a specialist who diagnosed me with jaw arthritis. I have been taking 1500-1800mg Gabapentin for 10 days and it has magically decreased my clenching by at least 75%. My Jaw is now looser than ever and I don’t wake up as tight. My issue has always been extremely tense muscles around my joint. Recently I feel I’m getting tmj issues from gabapentin—is this normal? A couple days ago, I noticed when I take it, I get locked jaw and extremely tight jaw muscles and ear pain. I thought this drug was supposed to cause relaxed muscles? Cutting out caffiene has helped, and gabapentin seems to reduce it slightly. But regardless of whether I'm stressed or relaxed or anything, as soon as I go unconscious my body insists on clenching my jaw really tight, causing TMJ pain and the sensation of my head being crushed all into the next day. My pain doctor prescribed me 300mg gabapentin every night and will titrate up. I'm on day 4, and maybe this is placebo effect, but my pain is significantly better I notice I have more mobility (I can open my mouth a bit more), I have less headaches and less sharp pain in my TMJ/jaw/cheek areas. I also live within 5 minutes of a business that does massages specific for TMJ and migraines. I go once a month and that also helps a ton. My TMJ pain radiates down to my neck and back so she'll give me an upper body massage and reach into my mouth to massage the joints in my jaw. It seems weirder than it is haha. I take 1200mg/day for TMJ pain (failed all other therapy). I have gained 10+ lb in 2 months no lifestyle or diet changes. has anyone else experienced weight gain as a side effect? it increases appetite.
