Withdrawal symptoms are persistent but clonidine and cyproheptadine have been game changers. I currently work full time and I’m in a full time PhD program, so I’m living life despite the withdrawals. Yes, Neurontin works wonders for withdrawal of all sorts- including opes, benzos, and alcohol withdrawal. But you need to take it safely and responsibly or you will damage your body. Also, just FYI, I have taken Neurontin for 3 or 4 days consecutively before to help me get over both alcohol and benzo withdrawals only to have withdrawal from Withdrawal symptoms can begin within 12 hours to 7 days after quitting the medication and last up to 10 days. I know that I tend to think that anything unpleasant im feeling must be from withdrawal but of course this isn't always the case. I take the 300 mg in the morning and by 5 PM I’m in withdrawal. I get so irritable, flu like symptoms, backache, shaky, etc. I just don’t know what to do. If I use baclofen to cover some of the withdrawal symptoms in the late afternoon or evening, is that just prolonging the withdrawal timeline? Does anything at all help? I was on a very very very high dose which was stupid And when I ran out the withdrawal symptoms were out of this world I had to be hospitalized thank God I’m back down to my regular dose I only got addicted to it because of the extreme euphoria and the anxiety Just experienced 4 days of gabapentin withdrawal. I am one of those annoying patients that doesn't get withdrawal symptoms from gabapentin, but I haven't told the Doctors. Promise. Gab withdrawal is one of the most horrendous things I've ever gone through. I suggest you taper if possible so you don't go insane from the withdrawal symptoms. Fast forward almost a year, and unfortunately, out of nowhere my pain just started going bonkers, and so I became desperate about 2 months ago and had to begin using gabapentin. Gabapentin is by far the worst withdrawal I have ever gone through, very similar symptoms, I can only manage dropping 100mg each dose at a time otherwise it is always unbearable. I normally do it weekly, obviously a lot slower but makes the withdrawal easier to cope with. Common symptoms of that are increased pain (it's caused by the brain, NOT by your original problem, it's withdrawal) depression and suicidal thoughts, abdominal distress, sleep disturbances such as extreme fatigue or insomnia. The way I do it to avoid withdrawal is to go down by 100mg each week. Gabapentin has a horrendously long half life, so it takes something like 36 hrs to 3 days to start feeling the withdrawal, so the 100mg step down over 7-10 days has been key for me. Sometimes I can go down faster if I’ve been at higher doses for only a day or two.
