Horizant is a prescription medicine used to treat adults with restless legs syndrome and pain from damaged nerves. It affects chemicals and nerves in the body that are involved in the cause of some types of pain. Horizant is used in adults to treat nerve pain (postherpetic neuralgia) caused by herpes virus or shingles (herpes zoster). Patients (N=12) were randomized to 3 different treatment sequences, each receiving 3 doses: a 626 mg gabapentin-equivalent dose of Horizant® with food, a 626 mg gabapentin-equivalent dose of Horizant® without food, and a 600 mg dose of conventional gabapentin without food.
