This may affect your ability to drive or perform other activities. Other gabapentin side effects include edema (fluid buildup), weight gain, and eye problems, but these aren’t as common. IVDD is very painful, so on top of the aforementioned (by others) sedation side-effect that is common with gabapentin, your dog may just be more comfortable in general to rest better. Give Gabapentin a go, hopefully it helps. If you end up getting unwanted side effects then you can always try Pregabalin instead. It does the same job, see what works for you. If you just down a bunch of pills, chances are you won't be feeling much of anything, besides a very subtle high. However, if you dose correctly, you'll be feeling fucking amazing for a long duration, and be 100% functional. It becomes a very nice opiate without the side effects and addiction. I can't speak to coping with the side effects of Gabapentin; however, neuropathic pain modulators are only a part of chronic pain management. Medications like Gabapentin are a temporary solution to reduce nerve type pains and are supposed to be combined with pain science education and patient discussion to assist in neuroplastic remodeling. It took almost 2 weeks after that before those mining explosions stopped. For me, I have to stay on gabapentin at this high dose and accept side effects. If you can do without gabapentin and you don't like side effects, do that. I do sleep better these last 5 years since I started gabapentin. So far no bad side effects, the constipation has pushed my normal morning bathroom time forward which is slightly inconvenient but not a big deal. but I’m waking up an hour earlier every morning feeling wicked refreshed and I’m not waking up at 3am like clockwork anymore. i have been in gabapentin for a little over one month. the VA started me at 300 tid, then 400, then 600, and now i am at 800 tid. i have definitely gained some fat but i so stay very active and eat consciously. my pain and anxiety are definitely lower and my sleep has greatly improved. i was prescribed gabapentin to stay off alcohol and phenibut And has a side effect list that covers a poster sized sheet. But the same dr poo poo'd opiods. Which have very few side effects, have virtually no high if taken in the prescribed amounts (and used on pain, not for recreation), and make me actually productive again.
