A 2016 study found that gabapentin showed some benefits for migraine headaches. However, it concluded that there wasn't enough evidence to recommend it as a primary therapy. Since adverse events were common among the gabapentin-treated patients, it is advocated that gabapentin should not be used in routine clinical practice. Another area of exploration is the potential role of neurontin in treating migraine headaches. Migraines are characterized by intense, throbbing headaches often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. Objective: Gabapentin (GBP), originally an antiepileptic drug, is more commonly used in the treatment of pain, including headache disorders.
