After diagnosing my cat with a uti the emergency vet prescribed 100mg gabapentin along with an antibiotic shot. I gave my cat the gabapentin a couple hours ago and noticed it made her pretty off balance and very drowsy. She’s 13.7lbs and has never had pain meds before. Gabapentin is likely being recommended by the vet because cystitis causes bladder spasms and therefore pain.
