Gabapentin is a medication that treats nerve pain by calming overactive nerves in your body. It may also prevent and control seizures in people with epilepsy. You can take this medication by mouth with a glass of water. Respiratory depression and sedation, sometimes resulting in death, have been reported following coadministration of gabapentin with opioids (e.g., morphine, hydrocodone, oxycodone, buprenorphine) [see Warnings and Precautions (5.7)]. 3 SERIOUS WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS BOX Serious Warnings and Precautions Life-threatening Respiratory Depression Concomitant use of TEVA-GABAPENTIN with opioids may result in respiratory depression, profound sedation, syncope, and death.
