Det aktive virkestoffet i Neurontin er gabapentin. Monoterapi ved behandling av partiell epilepsi med og uten sekundær generalisering hos voksne og ungdom ≥12 år. Behandling av perifer nevropatisk smerte som f.eks. smertefull diabetisk nevropati og postherpetisk nevralgi hos voksne. Morfin (smertestillende) kan øge virkningen af gabapentin. Forsigtighed tilrådes ved samtidig brug af morfin eller morfinlignende midler. Syreneutraliserende midler, der indeholder aluminium og magnesium, nedsætter virkningen af Gabapentin "Upjohn". Derfor bør de to typer lægemidler indtages med ca. 2 timers mellemrum.
